
Hida no sato (Hida Folk Village) is an open air museum exhibiting traditional houses from the Hida region, the mountainous district of Gifu Prefecture around Takayama. This is a village with over 30 gable roofs that occupy over 99,000 square meter and is a replica local village. National Cultural Property is the restoration of many old buildings and a shrine in the Gassho style that is endemic in the Hida region. This is a place where you can return to the past with an old hill tribe farming village from the Hida region. In every house, there will be exhibits of everyday appliances (current folk art) to show the lifestyle and culture of the agricultural village in this valley. At the arts and crafts center, there will be demonstrations of folk handicrafts such as Hida lacquer work, weaving and dyeing also at the School of Folk Art.
