Osaka is the largest city in the Kansai region and is the 3rd largest city in Japan. This city have the best source of street food close to the famous Glico Man image. Dotonbori area – starting from the Dotonbori Bridge to Nipponbashi Bridge is a very colorful area at night. The symbol of this area is the Glico sign. With many people sitting, eating and taking pictures with excitement. There is also a Kabuki theater. In the past, it used to be a theater district that has now become a famous nighttime entertainment area.

The history of the Dotonbori area has a long history dating back to 1612, begin with a merchant named Yasuo Doton who dug up the river to increase commercial income. Later, this merchant died in the battle of the Osaka Siege and the expansion of the canal continued by his nephew. Later, it was dubbed the name of the canal and this canal road as Dotonbori which became an entertainment area with full of Kabuki theater “Bunraku Theater” and was destroyed during World War 2.

How to get there:

By Train:

  • From Osaka city to Dotonbori, just take the subway of Osaka Midosuji Line, Yotsubashi Line, Sennichi Line to get off at Osaka-Namba Station and get out of Exit 14.
  • When walking to the northwest above it. There is also a subway to the Sennichimae Line and Sakaisuji Line stations. Nihombashi. After that, exit Exit 2 and walk northeast.
  • From Osaka station – take the subway to Namba or Nipponbashi, then walk for a while.
  • Aside from Osaka, You can take Shinkansen to get off at Shin-Osaka Station then change to the Midosuji Line subway and get off at JR Namba Station.
  • In case of coming from Kansai Airport. Take the Nankai Airport Line from Kansai Airport Station to Izumino station then change to the Nankai Honsen Line and alight at Namba Station.
  • You can also take the Nankai Airport Line from Kansai Airport Station to Hineno station and change train at the JR Hanwa Line to Tennoji Station then change to the Midosuji Line subway and get off at the Namba Station.
