Danfeng County is located at the southeastern foothills of the Qinling Mountains. Shang County was established in the Qin Dynasty. It was renamed Shangluo County in the Sui Dynasty. In the second year of Jin Zhenyuan (AD 1154), it was reduced to Shangluo Town and merged into Shangluo County.
On June 1, 1949, part of Shang County and Shangnan County were set aside to establish Danfeng County. It was named because the county seat is located on the bank of Danjiang River and at the foot of Fengkou Mountain.
There is a place 15 kilometers east of Danfeng County called Taohuapu. It used to be called “Taojiapu”. Speaking of which, there is a legend.
According to legend, Zheng Ziming followed Zhao Kuangyin to sell oil from Qingyou River to Chang’an. When passing through the natural dangers of Wuguan, he poured a basket of oil down the mountain (Youlu ditch), which made him moody, the sun was blazing, and he was hungry and thirsty. When they were unable to move forward, they saw a melon garden in front of them. Large ripe watermelons rolled on the ground.
Lao Zheng didn’t ask any questions, just picked one up, smashed it open and swallowed it. Before he could swallow a mouthful of melon, a marble flew and hit his head with a big bruise. Before he could wake up, a girl with upturned eyebrows and wide almond-shaped eyes came to him, calling him a “melon thief” over and over again, and the two started fighting.
It turns out that this girl is Tao Sanchun, a heroine among girls. When his father Tao Hong came to talk to Zhao Kuangyin, the two parties made peace. It was really impossible to make a deal without fighting. After learning that they were heroes who rebelled, the old man actually married Sanchun to Zheng Ziming. So far,
Danfeng performs a “Guard Hunting” every Spring Festival to commemorate the heroes.
This place was originally called Taojiapu. Later generations planted peach trees in memory of the heroine Tao Sanchun, and renamed Peach Blossom Shop based on its homophonic pronunciation. Taohuapu, Danfeng County, Shaanxi Province, is famous for its rich production of peaches, walnuts, watermelons, cherries, sand fruits and other fruits.
Later, as the river bed rose and the water level dropped, its watermelon production area was moved to Baocang Village on the other side of the Danjiang River in Baikuanpingliang. The walnut production area moved eastward to Wuguan, where 16 provinces and cities across the country held walnut on-site meetings.
