Doi Pha Tang is another popular attraction among the visitors in Phuket. This mountain is located in Tumbol Bang Poh, Amphoe Vien Gan with the height of 1,800 meters. Doi Pha Tang offers the best spot to watch the scenic Mekong river at the hilltop where you can overlook the borders of Thailand and Laos. Doi Pha Tang is about 25 kilometers north from the well-known Chiang Rai’s tourist destination – Phu Chi Fah. Doi Pha Tang is beautiful scenic place about 1,638 meter from sea level Doi Pha Tang is near the highway number 1093. At the 98th kilometer, there is a viewing point on top of a high cliff over the Thai-Laotian with the height of 1,635 kilometers with the sea of mist throughout the year.
During December-January, blooming Sakura provides picturesque scenery. And during February blooming butterfly trees is a must-see. It is home to the Chinese Haw, the Hmong and Yao minorities. The Haws are the remnants of the 93rd Chinese Division who moved in to settle on Doi Pha Tang and now became farmers growing cold-climate plants and offers products such as plums, peaches, pears, apples and teas.

How to get there :
- From Chiang Rai, take the route Chiangrai-Vien Chai- Phaya Meng Rai-Baan Ta via highway number 1233, 1173, and 1152 which will be a distance of 50 kilometers and continue on as a route turns into Baan Ta-Baan Tha Cha Reon, highway number 1020 with a distance of 42 kilometers. From Tha Cha Reon drive pass Vien Gaan and Pang Hud , highway 1155 with a distance of 17 kilometers. Then take a Pang Hud-Doi Pha Tung route and continue on for around 15 kilometers. Visitors can see Khong River from Pha Bong’s viewing point. With a walking distance of 1 kilometer you will arrive a viewing point 103.
