Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar is part of the 20th anniversary project of the ‘Mechanical Arm Alchemist comic, The Revenge of Scar, the second live-action film from the live-action trilogy. It is a direct sequel to the 2017 live-action Fullmetal Alchemist.
It all begins with Edward and Alphonse Elric, two alchemist brothers who lost their bodies in an attempt to revive their mother. They set out to find a way to get their bodies back. And in The Revenge of Scar, the follow-up to 2017’s live-action, Edward is promoted to official alchemist. and was on his way to Central City with Alphonse.
At that moment, they met Lin Yao, son of the Qin Kingdom. who set out to find the Philosopher’s Stone to negotiate for becoming an emperor, and also Mei Zhang, the princess of the Zhang family. also came here to compete for the title of emperor
At that moment, Edward found Envy the old enemy is not dead. Pol Pot also appeared with a new group of Homunculus. to set the whole country on fire The bullshit has not yet disappeared. The buffalo intervened when suddenly there was a man named Scar. Go on a hunt for the official alchemist. which Edward was one of Scar’s targets. And all he did was to take revenge on the Ishwal people. their own people that were wiped out by the authorities many years ago
Yes, this is just part of the messy relationship that takes place in Fullmetal Alchemist, where the authors are very good at laying out the clues. Laying the background on Edward’s drive Plus, merging political content that makes us understand the actions of all parties. Although the plot looks messy, but the content is well organized and not confusing.
Kudos to Hiromu Arakawa, the manga author who wrote these stories so well. The live-action version simply picks up the content from the manga and arranges it into a live-action role. The story line is the same, almost every inch.
If you count the Fullmetal Alchemist comics as the original content, then This live-action version also marks the third round in which the Alchemist’s mechanical arm has been adapted to the television. Since the previous Fullmetal Alchemist manga had been adapted twice, the 2003 anime recreated the ending. and a remake of the original manga, Brotherhood, turned the story into a legendary anime. which no matter which version Also, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the highest rated anime series from IMDb, so the expectations of fans of this manga are very high.
With the fear that the team is afraid that if modified too much may be crushed by cartoon fans So try to walk the story like a comic book as much as possible. But it also caused problems for the live version as well. That’s where the movie stuffs every issue. Collecting every moment in just 2 hours, the movie doesn’t have a rhythm for the audience to take a breather. Adding new issues without stopping If it’s a movie that looks like it, it’s going to be fun, but as described in the first 3 paragraphs, the reader will find that Its content is full of characters. And it’s a very messy relationship. Having stuffed everything in 2 hours, the audience was barely able to grasp the point.
Another small disappointment is that the movie was adapted in Japan, because the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist are actually multinational people. There are black, white, golden-headed, Asian people walking together. But those multinationals were all replaced by Japanese actors. which is unfortunate because the physical appearance is not suitable for the character And the makeup that is put on it makes the character become a cosplay by default.
In the CGI aspect, Japan is as consistent as ever in terms of non-smoothness. And if you readers have seen the anime version before. One might feel very frustrated at the splendor of alchemy because live-action can’t even craft a scene to that level. Even with a queue to help But the movement of the characters is not as fast as in the cartoon anyway.
Unfortunately, the main actors, Yamada Ryosuke and Mackenyu Arata, are quite stubborn, but the characters they play don’t match the image. that the character should be feminized, CG and the makeup that has been put on is not smooth So it’s just a cosplay work that comes out to meet the creators.
In fact, in 2017 there was a problem like this too. And viewers like us think that the movie must have closed the door for the next part. But I still dare to push the sequel to follow. Really asking, why did you do it? For what purpose? With The Revenge of Scar coming this way, we couldn’t have hoped that the final installment, The Final Alchemy, would be any better. Because I would still be able to keep all the content according to the standard. But this fun is not expected anymore. Which anime fans like us hope that one day Hollywood will pick it up for a remake. Because Fullmetal Alchemist’s content is perfect for a Hollywood production.
Overall, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar is like a big budget cosplay event. Follow all the cartoons But pushing all the content into 2 hours until the rhythm of the movie is too rushed. for mechanical arm fans The alchemist looked at it enough to get rid of his thoughts. But for new fans who watched it, they were confused that the movie was told too quickly. I recommend watching an anime like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
