Phra Phuttha Rattana Mongkhon Mahamuni at Wat Bhurapha Piram (also known as Luangpho Yai) is built from gold-covered reinforced concrete. The statue is depicted is in varada mudra pose (right palm facing up with fingers pointing downwards).
This temple is located in the main town of Roi Et. The third-class royal temple was formerly known as Wat Hua Ro, and was later renamed as Wat Buraphaphiram. It contains Thailand’s tallest standing Buddha image, known as Phra Phuttha Rattanamongkhon Mahamuni or Luangpho Yai. The massive statue was built with reinforced concrete, standing nearly 60 meters high, even without the base (which itself is about 8 meters high). A museum holds exhibits and displays, and is located at its base. The statue and site are widely revered by locals.
There is a viewing platform at the back, which gives you a good view across the city but, reaching only about halfway up the huge figure, your view won’t be as good as his.
