What kind of person was Saint Peter?

Saint Peter (1 AD – 68 AD), Hebrew: כיפא‎; Greek: Πέτρος; meaning rock. He was the eldest disciple of Jesus, and also the favorite disciple of Jesus. He was an early leader of Christianity. In 68 AD, he was persecuted by the Roman Emperor Nero and was nailed to the cross upside down and martyred.

Character Experience

When Jesus started preaching, Andrew was introduced by John: “Look at the Lamb of the Lord!” He went to worship Jesus as a teacher, and when he returned home, he met his brother Peter and said, “We have found the Messiah— Jesus Christ the Savior.” Peter was introduced by his brother to Jesus, and Jesus saw him and said, “You are Simon, your father’s name is Jonah, and in the future you will be called Zepha.”

Every time God entrusted someone with a major task, he called him by an appropriate name. Peter was inspired and called by Jesus for the first time, and his will was uncertain, so he bid farewell to Jesus temporarily.

When Jesus was preaching, he did good things everywhere and performed many miracles. The voice of Jesus became more and more widely spread, and the crowds came to follow him and listen to his gospel. One day, Jesus came to the shore of Lake Salleh, and saw two people tied by the lake. One of the boats belonged to Peter. Because the audience was crowded, Jesus got into the boat and taught the crowd.

After the end, he told Peter to row into the middle of the lake to cast a net to catch a fish. Peter said, “Teacher, we have worked hard all night. , I can’t catch a single fish; but according to your order, I have to let down the net.” Sure enough, a large number of fish were caught, and the fishing net was almost burst. I had to ask other boat companions to help, and the two boats were so full that they almost sank.

Peter was amazed and fell down before Jesus and said, “Lord, please leave me! I am a sinner.” So Jesus said to him, “Do not be afraid, come and follow me! I will make you an arrest from now on. The fisherman of man.” Jesus loved Peter very much, and Peter was grateful for the Lord’s grace in his heart, and he deeply understood and remembered everything Jesus said and did.

Peter, a passionate and straightforward man, once said to Jesus, “Look, we have left everything to follow you.” Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you: who for the sake of me and the gospel has given up Wives, brothers, sisters, parents, children, and fields, before they were born, did not receive a hundredfold in this world, that is, houses, brothers, sisters, parents, children, and fields, and they would be persecuted, and in the age to come they would have eternal life.”

Jesus’ Prophecy

Before his crucifixion, Jesus prophesied how he would be betrayed by traitors and suffer until he died. Peter passionately and generously made a vow that he would rather die than be a traitor, and said to Jesus, “Lord, even if I die with you, I will not betray.” Jesus said, “Are you ready to sacrifice for me? I really tell you, Before the rooster crows, you will turn your face and deny me three times!” Peter faced a severe test.

test. From his overconfident tone, at this crucial moment, if he did not rely on God, he would not be able to stand the test because of his stubbornness and stubbornness.

That night, Peter prayed with Jesus in the olive garden; he fell asleep and could not insist on praying with Jesus. In the middle of the night, the wicked people came to arrest Jesus, and Jesus walked forward calmly. The disciples were panic-stricken and fled in all directions. Jesus was arrested and imprisoned by the wicked people. Peter followed Jesus from a distance into the yamen, and then followed the high priest. In the house, because it was cold in the middle of the night, I sat in the courtyard with the soldiers to warm up by a fire.

A handmaid came to him and said, “You are with Jesus of Galilee.” Peter did not deny it in public, “I don’t know when you are talking!” Peter went out to the hall At the same time, another servant girl saw him and said to those present, “This man is also with Jesus of Nazareth.” Peter cursed, “I don’t know that man?” The people who were there came up to him and said, “You must be with him. You can tell by your tone.” Peter cursed again, “I don’t know that man.” Immediately the rooster croaked, Peter woke up suddenly, remembering the words of Jesus, “Before the rooster crows, you want me to deny me three times.” He went out and wept miserably.
