Story 81: Wang Sheng’s Injustice
Wang Sheng’s Injustice
Author: Anonymous
In Qiu Village, Dingxiang County (today’s south of Dingxiang, Shanxi) on Hebei Road in the Jin Dynasty, there was a man named Wang Hu who made pottery tiles. In the second year of Mingchang reign of Emperor Zhangzong of Jin Dynasty (1191), he took his son Wang Sheng to Shandong to burn kilns. One day, nine bandits were chased by officers and soldiers. They fled to the brick kiln and hid.
They said to Wang and his son, “We have a lot of gold and silver. If we are not caught and save our lives, we are willing to share the money equally with you and your son.” The father and son then hid in the stolen kiln, so that the officers and soldiers could not find him.
The Wangs and his son became malicious, set fire to the kiln, smoked nine people to death, and returned home with the robber’s treasure. In a few years, the Wang family has become the richest man in the area.
In Taihe, Wang Sheng went on a pilgrimage to Mount Wutai. On the way, he suddenly fell off his horse in fear and was rescued by his servant. Wang Sheng uttered ghost words and cursed angrily: “Wei Si has been able to escape after chasing me, and he was able to get rich by sharing the goods, so he became disgusted and burned me to death. I have been searching for several years, and now I see you, I will rest if I pay for my life.” Then he picked up a knife and chopped at everyone.
The Wang family had no choice but to call in Taoist priests to drive away ghosts. What a Taoist priest does, ghosts bring injustice before lawsuits. If a Taoist priest knows that what the ghost says is true and that it is illegal, it can be controlled.
If he teaches him how to be a disciple of Huang Qi, he may be able to be liberated. Wang Hu revealed his true feelings to Zhaitan, and people knew the reason for his wealth. Wang Hu built a large temple and prayed day and night, but Wang Hu died within a few days of his life.
