Introduction to Obiang Manor

In 1855, Chateau Haut Brion, also known as Hongyan Zhuang, was rated as one of the four first-class estates in Bordeaux. Of the 61 Grand Crus in the five categories rated at that time, 60 are all within the Medoc region. There is only one, the Confidante, from the village of Pessac in Graves.
Introduction of the winery
Chateau Haut-Brion is not just a winery that produces top red and white wines, but a poem, a painting full of poetic sentiments. From entering Zhuangmen, sitting in the film and television hall with the crimson velvet curtain, what I feel is exquisite elegance and poetic feeling.
The crimson velvet curtain embedded with the golden logo of the village opened silently, revealing the long history of the winery, the unique vineyard management – pruning the vines, cultivating, harvesting, and the seamless combination of tradition and modern science. , every detail slowly unfolds before the eyes.
I’ve never seen vineyards and winemaking photographed so delicately, so perfectly, so elegantly, this is Chateau Obiang. Later, when I saw the owner, HRH Prince Robert of Luxembourg, again, and mentioned the winery’s exquisite video, he smiled and told me that it was his masterpiece.
Of the 60 chateaux classified in the Bordeaux classification in 1855, all but one were in the Medoc. The exception to this is Château Obiang, which is classified as a First Growth in Pessac-Léognan (a separate AOC from Graves in 1987). Buildings around Chateau Obiang Chateau Obiang is located on the outskirts of Bordeaux.
Driving to the Obiang winery, there are no contiguous vineyards along the way, but dense city streets. When I arrived at the gate of the winery, I saw the vineyards inside the wall and the houses outside the wall.
Château Obiang is one of the oldest wineries in Bordeaux, and 480 years ago there must have been vineyards around the winery. With the urbanization brought about by the European Industrial Revolution, how many vineyards disappeared in the expansion of the city of Bordeaux, Obiang remained.
Because Chateau Obiang is the closest to the city of Bordeaux, the grapes have always ripened early in history, marking the beginning of the Bordeaux grape harvest season with the first grapes to be picked. The style of Obiang is different from that of Médoc. The aroma of the new wine is rich and complex, and the taste is soft and pure; the old wine has a pleasant aroma, silky texture, delicate and elegant, which is admirable. Historically, it has been known for its consistent high-quality wines.
Winery Obiang’s tasting room is upstairs, with views of the surrounding vineyards from windows that surround it on three sides. The wine cabinets in the tasting room are lined with wines from different wineries owned by Clarence Dillon, the holding company of Chateau Obiang. Chinese blue and white vases are displayed on the top of the wine cabinet, adding an oriental charm to the whole tasting room.
In the middle is a circle of wine tasting tables, marble countertops, white backing paper, everything is specially designed for the appreciation of wine. The tall bar chairs are very comfortable to sit on. Get on the bar chair, adjust your position and pick up the 1999 Chateau Haut Brion Rouge. The wine is made up of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 60% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The large proportion of Merlot is the characteristic of Obiang red wine.
This inky rose purple is an unusual deep ruby red-purple, which is the color I saw when I tested wines at Château Obiang compared to other wineries. Still pure and strong fruit aroma, classic black currant, blackberry aroma, faint violet flower aroma, cigar box, tobacco and smoke, gushing out layer by layer; heavy-bodied, round and full, delicate and silky. Tannins build up the structure and the wine begins to mature and elegant.
The 1990 Chateau Haut Brion Rouge makes people feel the richness of Obiang red wine. The wine that has gone through the years shows a mature and beautiful charm. Herbal, earthy and mineral aromas, with subtle aromas of humidor, flue-cured tobacco and mocha; on the palate soft and mellow, complex, tobacco, leather and grilled meat; velvety tannins that glide over the tongue like satin, soft and medium The strength to support long-term aging.
