Hallgrímskirkja Church (Hallgrimskirkja)

It is the high church of Reykjavík. With a total height of 74.5 meters, it is the largest church. and is the sixth tallest structure in Iceland. It was built by architect Guðjón Samúelsson in 1945-1986. Combined with 38 years of construction, the church is named after Hallgrimur Petursson, an Icelandic poet and clergyman.

Under the architectural design of the Expressionists. This tall church has a unique architecture and is an important religious site for Icelanders.

In front of the church is a monument of Leifr Eiriksson standing in front of you. In Icelandic history, Valevre is considered the first European Norse to set foot on North American territory, including Greenland. And the United States has given this monument to Iceland. to commemorate and to build good relations between the two countries On the occasion of the Millennium Anniversary of Iceland’s Althing Parliament.
