Synopsis

Around the end of the Edo period, Makino Mantaro was born into a wealthy family that runs a sake brewery in Kochi. Due to his weak body, Mantaro was often bullied but he showed huge interest and talent in plants. He decided to drop out of elementary school and study botany with the dream of “discovering all the plants in Japan” and creating his own botanical illustration book.

The son of the clerk of the sake brewery “Mineya”, the birthplace of Mantaro. Since he is close to his age, he is ordered to watch over Mantaro. Even though he is swayed by Mantaro, he continues to support him as the person who understands him the most.
