Propagation of Medicinal Plants

Propagation of Medicinal Plants
Propagation is the natural reproduction of trees. which is caused by sowing seeds, sprouting, sprouting, sprouts, or shedding of plants Vegetative propagation increases the number of plants. Propagation of medicinal plants is divided into two types:
1. Sexual propagation of plants
Sexual propagation of plants is the introduction of seeds produced by the fertilization of stamens and pistils. to cultivate a seedling to grow into a new tree which the new tree characteristics may have characteristics that are better or worse than the original
This method of plant propagation has the advantage of having taproots. There are not many methods and procedures. But there are disadvantages that can be mutated, large plants and guar will take a long time to bear fruit. Many medicinal plants are bred by this method, such as Coon, Yor, and Fah Talai Joo. The method is very convenient and popular. is planting in a pot or plastic bag.
The material used is Black rice husk ash, coarse sand or sandy soil But the most suitable is black rice husk ash. Because black rice husk ash does not harden, crumbles, is airy, has good drainage, is well exposed to sunlight, plastic bags used must be drilled to allow water to flow. How to do it by putting rice husks in a plastic bag After that, wash the charcoal with water to get rid of the alkali first. If not using black rice husk charcoal will use sandy loam.
Use 2 parts loam soil, 1 part coarse sand, 1 part finely ground dry manure and mix well. Sow 2-3 seeds deep enough (if large, use 1 seed). watch out of the sun Water moderately once a day. Do not allow water to stand, the seeds will rot. When the seeds germinate, expose them to some sunlight. When the tree grows enough, it can be planted in the desired location.
2. Asexual propagation of plants
Asexual propagation of plants is the propagation of plants with any part of the plant such as branches, shoots, heads, leaves, rhizomes, flows, etc. by cutting, splitting, persistence, tissue culture (Tissue Culture) to create a new tree
The advantages of asexual propagation is not mutant It is convenient to maintain, has fast results and can propagate plants that do not have seeds or are unable to have seeds. But there is a disadvantage, which is no taproot, some methods can be propagated at a time, not much. Some techniques and knowledge are required to help, such as castration, tissue culture, etc.
There are several methods of asexual propagation of plants. Here, only the most commonly used methods will be introduced. and used for the propagation of medicinal plants to be recommended further As for other methods, if interested, you can study them from agricultural textbooks.
2.1 Separation of shoots or clumps of certain medicinal plants such as galingale, banana, lemongrass, ginger, galangal, pandan, aloe vera. Propagated by separating shoots or clumps. This can be done by separating the shoots. Must choose strong shoots with 2-3 leaves. Water thoroughly to soften the soil.
Dig out carefully. do not let the shoots bruise when cut out Remove the soil to cover the base of the mother plant. Take the separated shoots, cut off the bruised roots. or leaves too many Then put it in a pot or prepared soil, press the soil firmly and then water it thoroughly. keep it in the shade If planted in a plot, shade it until the plant is strong. Take care not to let the water stagnate.
2.2 Cuttings of medicinal plants such as grass, cat’s whiskers, dianthus, can be easily rooted by using stems or branches. by selecting the perfect branch not too young or too old Use a sharp knife or scissors. Cut diagonally so that the branches have 3-4 buds attached. Cut and remove the leaves. Leave only a few leaves Use red mortar to paint the intersections to prevent fungi. to be embroidered onto a pickup truck containing black rice husk charcoal or sandy loam Mix in the same way as for seeding.
Cuttings: Place them straight into the soil. Plants are planted slightly apart. a small wood cover the soil tightly not to shake regular watering and don’t let it get wet and do not water vigorously will make the branches sway When the roots are broken and the leaves grow then moved to plant in the place where the soil was prepared
