Takeshita Street is shopping street lined with fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants in Harajuku. Also many stores on Takeshita Street such as The Body Shop, McDonald’s and 7-Eleven. There are very popular with teenagers, students on school trips and adults. This street become somewhat of an icon for Harajuku.

From the early 1990s, Takeshita Street was a pretty reliable place to get many brand products from Japanese and American street brands. On the street, they’re provide goods from original and fake goods in the street during that period until the metropolitan government took a stronger stance on fake goods then the market for these kinds of things started disappearing.

Many clothing stores in the Takeshita Street look similar products on many stores and have an unequal price setting and you can check the price from many stores to make sure before buying that product. Also beautiful teenagers dressed up in this area but you should ask permission before taking their picture and maintain overall etiquette say thank you every time after taking the picture and careful not to block the traffic of other people passing by that area.

If tourists want to experience the bustling atmosphere and exotic fashion of Japanese teenagers then this area will be closed for Japanese teenagers to organize various activities especially every Sunday. Compared to other districts in Tokyo such as Shibuya or Shinjuku. Harajuku is much smaller and narrow. There are still many people throughout the day. Therefore may not be suitable for shopping in large quantities and carry bulking things along the road.

How to get there:

By Train:

  • Use Jr Tokyo Train on Yamanote Line and get off at JR Harajuku Station after that walk across from JR Harajuku Station to the street.
