
Nikko located in the mountain range of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. This town is also not far from Tokyo and it is an alternative way to travel in many style. You can use one day trip to Nikko town from Tokyo. The distance from Tokyo to the north part is about 140 km.
Nikkois an important tourist destination in Japan with long history from the Edo period and great nature. There are many people coming to pay homage as the holy land of ancient mountain worshipers. There are many historical buildings such as the shrines and temples of Nikko including Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Sanjin Shrine, Rinji Temple and etc. All those places have been registered as a World Cultural Heritage. Also have the Kegonotaki Waterfall which is one of the three famous waterfalls in Japan. Chuzenji Lake which is a place with spectacular views and Kinugawa Onsen town is filled with the atmosphere along the valley.

How to get there:
By train:
- Use JR PASS from Tokyo. Direct to Ueno Station or Tokyo Station then ride the Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station. Or Use the Tobu Nikkon Pass card.
- from Shinjuku Station: with direct express train from JR Shinjuku to Tobu Nikko Station. It is a combination of JR and Tobu as a Direct limited express train. It takes about 2 hours. Price from 4,000 yen. (Suggestion that you should departure from Shinjuku station around 7.30 am and 8.21 am and return from Tobu Nikko Station at 16.39 pm and 17.02 pm). This route can only be used with JR EAST PASS and JR KANTO PASS. JR PASS cannot be used.
- For JR Pass you can use this pass at Shinjuku station then get off Utsunomiya Station. This takes about 3 hours and price is 2,590 yen.
- From Ueno or Tokyo Station: Take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen high-speed train from both Ueno and Tokyo stations. Get off at Utsunomiya Station (Utsunomiya) and change to JR Nikko Line. This route take about one and a half hours. One way ticket is 5,580 yen. This line can be used with JR Pass, JR East Pass and JR Kanto Area Pass.
- From Asakusa Station: there is a terminal section of the Tobu train line and ride straight to Nikko. This Tobu Nikko line is next to the Asakusa underground station of Ginza Line. An express train to Tobu Nikko Station stop at Asakusa Station every hour. This takes about 2 hours for ride and price is 1,360 yen.
- From Asakusa Station with express train line and takes only one hour and a half and price is 2,720 yen. This train can not be used with all types of JR cards but there will be a discount card from Tobu train line from both one day and two days include return ticket fees and entry fees for attractions in Nikko area.
