These apps are:
- Bluetooth Auto Connect (1 million installs)
- Bluetooth App Sender (50,000 installs)
- Driver: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB (10,000 installs)
- Mobile transfer: smart switch (1000 installs)
All four apps are from a developer called Mobile apps Group, which has combined over 1 million downloads, but this developer has been reviewed twice for publishing an adware-embedded app on the Play Store. Permission to continue publishing the app After releasing the Adware-free version.
The reviews of all 4 apps are not very good. Many users have criticized the auto-opening ads on their web browsers. Interestingly, however, the developers have responded to some user reviews. To the point that it said that it would help solve the problem as well.
Malwarebytes has been monitoring the movement of these apps. It was found that the app took approximately 72 hours before the first ad or a link to a data-stealing website was released. And web pages with similar content were opened every two hours. The researchers also found that new web pages were opened even when the user’s device was locked.
