The Hague University of Applied Sciences was established on September 1, 1987 as a result of the merger of 14 smaller institutions of higher learning. Technische Hogeschool Rijswijk (TH Rijswijk) later merged with the institution in 2003 and moved to the Delft campus in 2009.
