[Review] The Prince Of Tennis: Match! Tennis Juniors (2019 Netflix Edition)

The Prince of Tennis series is based on the manga of the same name, written by Takeshi Konomi, first published in 1999 (literally a 90’s manga). Quite a lot of “over” because each hitter, especially the hero team, will have two different ultimate moves each pose has a difficulty level, or the possibility is called 100/10 level, but The Prince of Tennis was a very popular sports cartoon in that era. until being made into animation, games, musicals, and live-action movies, and many souvenirs are sold out.

Even at cosplay events, people dress up as characters in Prince of Tennis Go to many events above other sports cartoons. without seeing dust (Think about it simply. Have you ever seen someone dress up as Tsubasa for a cosplay event?).

For the live-action version of The Prince of Tennis, it has actually been done twice (not including The Musical version):

1. The Prince of Tennis Live Action (Japan)

Released in 2006, the 111-minute length presents the story from joining the team of our hero “Ryoma” (the protagonist Prince of Tennis). in Japan) until the end of high school tennis Provincial qualifier The movie was well received when it was announced. But it’s not very scorching. Maybe because the characters are not smooth after trying to adjust the look like the manga. But it didn’t do well, leaving only Ryoma, who won the heart of her mother, and completely raised her anime line.

2. TV series (China) as 网球王子(Wang Qiu Wang Zi), which literally translates to “Prince of Tennis “

Broadcast in 2008, there are 22 episodes. Many details. try to bring Japan Then change the Chinese reading instead. But the characters seem to intend to make themselves look like cartoon characters such as hairstyles. By not paying attention to whether it will come out looking good or not. This version is called the complete silence that I never knew existed before.

The Prince of Tennis 2019 Series

11 years later, the Chinese entertainment giant Tencent Pictures has conjured up the Prince of Tennis. come up again in the form Live-action TV series, 40 episodes long, but renamed to奋斗吧, 少年! (Fen Dou Ba Shao Nian) If translated, it’s like “Fight on, Young Generation! ” Let me tell you that it received a bad response. The Chinese people themselves have quite a few negative trends. For the most part, this is the reason why live-action series based on cartoons don’t do well. (I doubt it’s a memory from the 2008 version.)

But when it came out, it seemed unexpected because this 2019 version of Prince of Tennis is called a copy of the manga for more than 90%. The details are almost complete. Comparative story “Shot by shot” is like copying homework. The manga version had 42 volumes and the series ended with 42 chapters.(Chinese data says there are 42 endings, but on Netflix there are 40 episodes, which are the same ending. I’m not sure if there’s anything cut off here.)

The plot of Prince of Tennis It started and ended equally, ending at the provincial representative competition to go to the national level. It’s as simple as 1 episode is 1 book, making the shot that Prince of Tennis fans have wanted to see for a long time. The legendary “Inui Vegetable Juice” with a reaction so close to the manga that it doesn’t matter at all put it in.

The team cares about the size of the school name. This one looks like a little gimmick or ester egg that I accidentally stumbled upon. in that original The protagonist’s school is called “Sesun School” by writing its full name. As青春学園(Seishun Gakuen, Seishun Gakuen), and this school is abbreviated as “Seigaku” (Seigaku青学). high school “Yixing”育青中学(YuQing ZhongXue, YuQing ZhongXue) , which is abbreviated as “QingXue青学”, can see that the Chinese characters are written the same as “青学” , but they are read differently. sound [Japanese Voice > Seigaku] , [Chinese Voice > QingXue] We will see these two words on the jackets of athletes of both versions.

Graphics

When The Prince of Tennis is considered a super cartoon. With each of them having the ultimate ultimate, CG is essential by default. Which has to be said that this year of China in 2019 is considered a good color of CG, but when it comes to smoothness, it still can’t compete with the 2006 Japanese edition, that is, 2006, understands a little CG, although it looks floating, but it doesn’t show for long. so it looks the smooth part of China this year very focused on this “Brown Bear Upside Down” Here comes a bear. So it seems to float clearly. But it is considered acceptable by the fans.

Actor

This is known. Prince of Tennis It takes a lot of actors. Because the protagonist’s character is famous for the whole team. Which are the prominent characters of other schools? Another 2-3 people per school, and in this latest version, I think it’s a good decision for the team to change the focus on choosing the characters appropriately. This version does not focus on hairstyles. or looks very similar to the cartoon version But turning to this celebrity looks good.

The shape is very close to the manga, especially the low-height sequence. and to focus on using emotions and habits to be close to the cartoon prototype instead of having to try to make a face like a cartoon character. It came out overall very good. If you’re going to lose it, Lu Xia (Ryoma) looks a bit old. But the height can be used. Senior Zhuo Zhi (Fuji) who sucks a lot from the cartoon when compared to other characters. Take a look below.
