What do I need to prepare for a trip to India? (2022)

COVID measures in India (update 8 March 2022)

  • Now open to tourists
  • Must fill out a form self-declaration at the airport
  • Those who have not been vaccinated must undergo a RT-PCR test 72 hours before boarding the flight.
  • Those who have been fully vaccinated do not need to undergo RT-PCR testing before boarding.
  • There is no condition of insurance for COVID.
  • Do not check for COVID when entering the country.

COVID-19 TRAVEL UPDATE (2022)

The guidelines for international travelers arriving in India have been reviewed & formulated taking a risk-based approach. The government of India has amended the protocols for international travelers as mentioned below:

  • All travelers should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against COVID-19 in their Country. FOR HIGH-RISK COUNTRY PASSENGERS
  • Submit a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal before scheduled travel including the last 14 days’ travel details
  • Upload the negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report along with the date of the RT PCR test conducted, while filling out the Self-declaration form
  • The negative report of COVID-19 RT-PCR test conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey
  • Carry the negative report of the COVID-19 RT-PCR test conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey (to be verified by Airport officials )
  • Exit the airport or take connecting flights, upon arrival in India
  • Self-monitor their health for the next 14 days of arrival
  • 2% of passengers per flight will be randomly tested upon arrival. If such passengers are found to be symptomatic or tested positive, shall be managed as per laid down standard protocol.

Children under 12 years of age are exempted from post-arrival random testing. However, if found symptomatic for COVID-19 on arrival or during the self-monitoring period, they shall undergo testing and be treated as per the laid down protocol(s).
