When was the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt?

The Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt (1295 BC-1189 BC), the second dynasty of the New Kingdom, was established by Ramses I in 1295 BC and reached its peak during the reign of Ramses II. In 1189 BC, the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt was overthrown by the Yisur uprising.

In 1295 BC, Harunheb, the last king of the eighteenth dynasty of Egypt, died, and Ramses I succeeded to the throne, establishing the nineteenth dynasty of Egypt, and the eighteenth dynasty of Egypt ended.

Seti I, son of Ramses I, defeated the invading Libyans and captured Canaan. During this period, the Hittite Empire in Asia Minor also expanded to Syria. After the death of Seti I, his son Ramses II succeeded him. In 1274 BC, the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt and the Hittite Empire fought each other in the Battle of Kadesh. In 1272 BC, Ramses II attacked Syria again. In 1270 BC, the northern border of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt reached the west bank of the Euphrates River.

During Ramses II’s 66-year reign, Egypt’s Nineteenth Dynasty began to decline. In 1213 BC, Ramses II died and was succeeded by his son Merenptah. In 1205 BC, Merenptah defeated the invading Sea Peoples. In 1203 BC, Merenptah died and was succeeded by his son Seti II. Amon Mesis occupies Upper Egypt against Seti II.

In 1200 BC, Seti II defeated Amon Messes and unified the country. After Siptah’s death, Seti II’s wife Tavost succeeded to the throne. In 1189 BC, the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt was overthrown by the Yisur uprising. Setnakht suppressed the Yisur uprising and established the Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt.
