The Children of China Davison Story
I sat on a chair in the park and watched the fiery meteor shower in front of me. As I predicted, tonight was indeed an extraordinary night. Many chairs were dotted in the park, and the other 180 residents of our “Planet Werner” came to watch the meteor shower with me. The atmosphere was really like the old Fourth of July celebration.
Residents let out bursts of “woo” and “ah” sighs from time to time. The little ones were babbling so loudly that their parents had to warn them to keep their voices down.
We were not many, a very close-knit group. Residents kept getting up from their chairs and huddling together to chat with each other. Quite naturally, as the mayor of Wernerworld (there are too few people here to produce the position of prime minister, king, or president), I have a lot of people around me.
They all asked me: “Alexander, how did you know it was going to rain like this?
” That’s it.” I told them.
“I think I will.”
However, I know they won’t. Our people don’t read much.
“Will the meteor shower damage Miss Lillian’s spaceship?” Joe. McNutt asked.
“No,” I said, “I warned her beforehand. She said the hull of their ship was tougher than the hide of an ancient Earth rhinoceros. Stones can’t do anything to that ship.”
“How long will it take them to come back?”
“They’re a long way off, Joe, and it’ll probably take them two years to get there and back. They’ll have time to build the ships and hire people. They’ll be back here in four and a half or five years.”
“Damn it,” said Joe, “are we going to live ten years?”
We looked at each other for a long time. Joe is not a very strong man, and he has realized how much our world will change when the spaceship returns.
“Brace yourself,” I replied, “who knows what will happen in five years. Maybe Star Wars will happen, or Lillian’s ship will never come back, or they’ll just forget about us.”
We looked up again.
“You will really miss her, won’t you, Alexandre,” he said.
“I think so, Joe”.
It was late at night, and people walked towards their respective homes. I took the record out of my pocket and read it again.
On the record of the United Spacecraft Sadat”A
Private
Report”Alexander Felinovich v. Blake”
(Mayor of Planet Werner)
They came on a clear and quiet night Here, Werner’s men came running as the roar of their jet engines reached us from miles away. I wasn’t the first one to be there, but when I did, people made room for me.
The color of their ships was the color of tarnished copper, but not copper. The color, shape, and construction of the ship are not much different from the spaceships our ancestors took when they came to Werner a hundred years ago. Of course, the red, white and blue flag told us that they were our fellow countrymen, and that they had found us at last.
This has always been what we fear the most! None of us, our parents and grandparents, wanted this to happen. And now, it’s happening in my lifetime.
Just as the hatch of the spaceship was pulled open, I caught a glimpse of several Werner women in the surrounding woods. I knew Felicia must be peeping there, because she was curious about everything. What would she think? Thinking of this makes me tremble. My wife is not one of those people who just hides in the woods and watches others show off.
Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long for two tall, athletic men in golden clothes to appear on the copper-colored spaceship. Seeing them with weapons in their hands, our guards immediately went on alert.
“Do you guys speak English?” one of them yelled at us. “Aren’t you descendants of the pilots on the spaceship Sam Houston V?”
Sam Willis was our captain of the guard. He looked back at me, wondering if I was going to call back. Now is not the time for me to speak, so I point to Sam and nod.
“Welcome to Planet Werner!” he yelled. “Yes, we speak English, and yes, we are descendants of Sam Houston. Who are you and what are you doing here?”
They didn’t answer. sam. I guess it’s not out of disrespect but because they have no right to do that. The man who questioned us said something into what looked like a radio. From their behavior, it can be seen that they are only the orderly of the chief who has not yet shown up, just like my former guard Sam.
Sam looked at me uneasily, and I nodded that he needn’t worry. At this time, a person who was thinner than the orderly stepped out from the hatch that opened like flying. The man took four steps forward, stood on the steel ladder, and said aloud: “Citizens of Werner, citizens of United Planet Earth, Headquarters congratulates you on your survival, and hopes, after the silence of one hundred and forty-one I will contact you again after a year.”
My heart sank suddenly, not because of the words themselves, but because of the sound of them. I seem to hear our wives hissing and cursing in the surrounding woods.
“I’m Lillian Dahout, captain of the light ship Headquarters Sadat. I wish to speak to your district prefect.”
Oh my god, that’s a woman!
All of us stared at her intently, and so did I, stunned by her. It was a long time before I came to my senses and stepped forward. Although she is not perfect, her tenacity, her ability, and her courage make her an outstanding woman. In a word, she is very attractive. bridge of the nose. blue eyes. The brown curly hair, which is neither long nor short, is slightly light gray under the light. Her skin was fair and smooth, except for a scar running parallel to her left eyebrow an inch above her left eyebrow. Her figure may be too thin.
When she saw me, she smiled at me.
We shook hands and introduced ourselves. She spoke first, “Mr. Blake, we have many questions to ask about you and your predecessors.”
“We have no secrets, Captain,” I replied, “Go, go to my office, there, We can discuss your problems while resting. Joe, Sam, come with me.” The
captain asked the two burly men to follow her, and gave another order to the cabin, and immediately, another man appeared at the cabin door, He also followed the captain. I later learned that the man was Dr. Jonathan Yamaksh.
On our way to our residence, we passed an open field surrounded by woods. The cool breeze was blowing against our cheeks, and I could vaguely smell the fragrance of Felicia’s body. I looked at the captain, and she didn’t seem to notice the aroma at all, which was fine.
We were about twenty feet into the woods when the captain spoke: “Mr. Blake, we wonder why the survivors on Sam Houston never got in touch with headquarters? Is it the ship’s backup radio?” Systems down too?”
“Did you signal headquarters after you landed here, Captain?” I asked.
“No. The sunspot activity is abnormal, and the signal cannot penetrate.”
“It is not abnormal, Captain, the current sunspot activity is normal for Werner. We have not stopped contacting the headquarters. Sunspot activity Never weakened enough that we couldn’t find a breakthrough. I’ve been hoping that in the years since our ancestors got here, headquarters would have improved the radio system to cut through sunspot interference. Sam Houston’s engine on landing Time is destroyed and we’re stuck here with no way to send out a distress signal.
“How did it take you so long to find us? She replied: ”
Sadly, even today, spaceships are very precious. Headquarters wanted to send a spaceship to investigate what happened to the Sam Houston, but there are many more important tasks to be completed… sorry. ”
“Come on, Captain,” I said with a smile, “I understand. The pilot of the USS Sam Houston had received final instructions before departing. They know to take risks. So, light ships are still expensive? ”
It’s more expensive than in the past,” she admitted, shaking her head. “It seems like every year we can double the number of spaceships, but our workload has to triple.” We’ve been so busy. I
nodded. After a few seconds of silence, she asked the key question: “Mr. Blake, I don’t recall ever seeing a woman around our ship.” Where are your women? ”
I was going to lie, it would be easy. But these people are too smart, they will find out that I am lying, and I will get nothing, so I can’t lie to them.
“They are dead,” I said. Said.
There was a howl from the woods, and one of the two big men put his hands on his hips, obviously they were carrying weapons, but he didn’t draw them.
“Dead?” Dr. Yamagush muttered. “When? How?”
“They’ve been dead for a long time,” I said briefly.
When I got out of the woods, I looked back, hoping I didn’t see Felicite, hoping she wasn’t around, and the woods behind me were like a huge curtain, hiding everything well. Looking up, there is an evergreen coniferous forest in front of you. A pair of big moons loomed in the sky behind the branches. Tonight, the two full moons are very close together. Whenever two moons change from a half moon to a full moon, they get so close together, we call this situation a “moon bridge”. Because the sky between the two moons is so brightly illuminated by their light that if we squint our eyes, we will find that the bright area between the two moons looks like a wide tie.
“Moonbridge tonight,” said Sam, obviously reading my mind.
“It’s pretty bright.” Joe nodded.
“The place of residence is just ahead,” I said with gestures, “my office is on the side, and I’ll be there in a while.”
Matsuba, Tsukihashi, Felicia. Thinking of this, I quickened my pace, and the others followed closely behind.
Although our residential area has a history of 140 years, it is still very simple. There are 82 houses in total, 30 of which were built with hard plastic structures at the earliest, and the rest are wooden houses. My office and house are all made of wood, the best built house in the neighborhood.
We walked into the large foyer, which is considered my living room, but I rarely have the opportunity to receive guests. Going further, we came to the central part of the office, which was a bit narrow for the seven of us, but it was the most respectable room. The walls were of high-quality wood, and along the walls were the books from the library of Sam Houston’s spaceship. The chair behind the desk is the seat of the captain of the Sam Houston spaceship. Captain Dahout looked at the chair and nodded. It was a familiar thing she saw in this strange area.
“Sit down, please,” I motioned to them, “now, let’s talk, ask questions, and we’ll do our best to answer you.”
“Very well, Mr. Blake,” said Captain Dahout.
“Call me Alexandre,” I interrupted her. The moment our eyes met, what did I see in her eyes? Is she flirting with me? I can’t remember.
“Well, Alexandre,” she said, “tell me about your women here. You say they’ve been dead for a long time, how long?
” A settlement was built, but not here, but ninety miles west of here. It happened to be a big fault line. The men started a men’s club. Every Wednesday night they had a party there, and they quarreled yelling and messing around in there. The women got so annoyed by it that they started a girls’ club against each other. Just as they were meeting for the first time, there was a big earthquake. All the women in Werner were there. According to their neighborhood The records left by the men say that the ground cracked and swallowed the house where the women met. I haven’t seen them since. All this is what I know from the records left by the predecessors. .That was a hundred and forty years ago.”
“My God!” exclaimed Yamagushi, “then why are you here?”
I smiled at him: “Guess what , Doctor.”
“Cryogenic freezing? Or live suspension?”
Joe laughed out loud. I shook my head in denial.
“Is the environment prolonging your life span?” The doctor continued to guess.
“It’s even worse, Doctor,” I said.
“It’s China Davison,” said Captain Dahout.
I raised my eyebrows.
“You did a good job, Captain,” I said. “Yes. China Davison was on board the Sam Houston spaceship. He was the greatest biologist of his time.”
Dahout “What I’ve read says that headquarters doesn’t want him here, he’s important to them
,” he said. “But he’s old, so in the end they let him.” Did us a favor and we wouldn’t be here today.”
“What did he do? Cloning?” Yamagush asked.
“No,” I said, “maybe we should show you. Seeing is worth seeing. Do you still say that adage? Come on, meet our wives, how about?
” “Your wives… Wife…wife? Yamagush gaped, “I don’t understand.” ”
Captain Lillian Dahout was calm, and I could tell she didn’t like it at all, didn’t like the fuss.
“My house is over there,” said Sam, “but I don’t know if you’re going there first, K Chloe might not…”
“If there’s only one person I want them to see, it’s going to be Chloe,” I said with a smile. Sam nodded and accepted my compliment knowingly.
“Take off your shoes , don’t make any noise. suggested Sam.
We took off our shoes and tiptoed to Sam’s cabin. Through the window, I could barely see Claire, because I had good eyesight and knew what to look for. The captain and her men I haven’t seen her yet. I saw Claire raised her head and was stunned. Immediately, she turned and disappeared. She must have gone to another room. I know, we won’t see Claire tonight.
Sam also He must have seen all this, because he didn’t care to make a noise, and suddenly quickened his pace. He ran to the bedroom door and turned the doorknob, but the door was already locked.
“Claire! Randy! he yelled. But neither his wife nor daughter answered him.
He looked at me helplessly.
“I, I think I can pick the lock,” he said reluctantly
. ! ’ I said, ‘Don’t do that! We’ll see them later. let’s go. ”
We can pretend to leave,” he suggested.
“No, then she won’t trust you anymore.” She won’t come out for a few more hours, will she? ”
Maybe another hour,” Sam answered.
“Well then,” I said, “that was a good try. We’ll come back later. Bye, Claire, bye, Randy. We’ll come back later.” I could imagine them hiding out the door Then shivering.
“Oh, come on,” cried Joe, “come to my house, Clara will see them.”
I said, “My house is close, let’s go and see Felicia.” Neither
Sam nor Joe said anything. Well, they knew Felicity and what she was capable of. I know their thoughts as well as Babe Ruth knows her racket. They disagree with my proposal, but I want to open the eyes of this captain from his hometown. If you can’t see Claire, then just go to see Felicia. Yes, I want them to meet my Felicia, and let them have a good experience of the vitality of life. Then they went to see poor old Clara. Tonight, I will play the leading role.
In my house, the fire burned brightly in the stove; the wooden walls were lit orange by the flames. There are some big shadows on the wall.
“Where’s the light?” a large man asked nervously.
The man’s frightened look gave me a burst of joy. I said, “We light with candles and fires, and Felicia likes darkness and fire.”
Sam and Jo kept their eyes on the shadows, knowing that Felicia often liked to hide in them. However, I know her better than they do. Tonight, she will not appear casually. She wants to whet everyone’s appetite, and then make her solemn appearance. This is her style.
“Felicia touch,” I yelled, and the voice echoed in the room, and every time I approached Felicia, next to the raging fire, calling her name, I felt a surge of passion. However, now I have to restrain myself, so I just smiled naively. That’s when I heard Felicia rubbing her buttocks in the hallway and scratching the wood with her nails, and my blood boiled. I turned my face and saw her eyes. In the dark, they flickered and teased me. However, in front of friends and strangers, I can only do my best to restrain my lust.
“Felicia,” I called her tenderly.
Joe gasped. He was terribly afraid of Felicia being dumb. Although I pitied him for his terrified disarray, I was repelled by his lack of passion and insensitivity to the beauty of life.
“You must be Mrs. Blake.” Captain Dahout said, striding forward, I was at a loss for what to do with her confident appearance. The moment she stretched out her hand to Felicia, her arrogance suddenly disappeared.
Felicia didn’t shake the captain’s hand. She came out of the darkness, and the firelight shone on her body, highlighting the curves of her figure even more—full and sexy. Her pink tongue deftly licked the soft lips.
I saw those two burly men pee their pants in fright. One of them groaned.
Captain Dahout stared blankly at Felicia. She wanted to use her knowledge and wisdom to understand what was going on…
She whispered, “God bless, you are a cat!”
Felicia bared her teeth and hissed. He gasped heavily. I almost jumped on it and strangled the captain’s beautiful neck. Sniff, she can’t speak too much… But thinking again, it can’t be her fault, it’s so weird to her. Can’t blame her.
I said softly to Felicia, “Felicia, my darling, you look beautiful.”
“Say it again,” Yamagush muttered.
The two big men just stood there, staring at everything in front of them.
Captain Lillian nodded and said, “You are very cute. Please forgive me if my words offend you. I’m just…surprised.”
Felicia glanced at her, and “honked” twice in satisfaction. Then, she turned her gaze to the two big men. The excited light in her eyes made me very unpleasant.
“Can she talk?” Yamagush asked in a low voice.
I said, “Oh, yes. But usually she doesn’t want to.”
Felicine was five feet five inches tall. She had large breasts, but it was strange that they were dwarfed by her extraordinary slender waist and broad hips. Her jet-black hair was streaked with white strands. The hair falls in layers over the face, neck, and down the back. It was a soft mane, which made Felicia look more like a lion than a cat, although her ancestors were indeed house cats.
Dr. Yamagush kept asking silly questions. His obsession prevented me from focusing on Felicia, in the presence of which Sam and Joe had always felt uncomfortable, so they began talking to the captain, explaining to her some incidents in their lives. I was supposed to play the leading role tonight, but I found that I was overwhelmed. I wanted to get rid of Yamagushi’s entanglement and regain control of the situation, but this pale and weak doctor seemed to be injected with extraordinary energy, and clung to me.
“How did you do it? Are there other species used in your experiment? How long will it take?”
Felicia began to feel restless, she honked, and slowly turned to the two The big man moves closer.
“Are those species still evolving? What about their next generation?”
The two men were talking to Felicia, and she cried out with satisfaction, and my heart beat wildly.
“Have you taken the characters for them? Do you have detailed records? Do you have medical records, let me see.”
At this moment, a man laughed, and Felicia also began to scream.
I pushed the doctor away.
Felicia unhurriedly raised her hand, and scratched the face of the laughing man, immediately, his face was dripping with blood. He was furious, and she was not to be outdone. They tore and twisted into a ball. I smell blood.
It was with great difficulty that the captain and I pulled them apart. But again they pushed me and the captain together, and we began to wrestle between us. My back was against the captain’s and I felt her warmth. We stood for a moment, back to back, close to each other, between the two men who were frantically wrestling. Then push them away again. The restlessness in my heart just now is gone now.
Lillian glared at the two big men and blurted out, “Mr. Blake, maybe we should get out of here. What else do you want us to see?”
“You can come to my house and see,” Joe suggested.
“Yes, why not go.” I said weakly.
Joe was too enthusiastic to hear my sarcasm. That’s fine too.
The captain turned to Felicia and said, “Mrs. Blake, I apologize to you on behalf of my people. Please forgive them. No doubt they were captivated by your beauty. . . .
What a clever woman. She knew not to be with Felicity is the enemy. What a smart woman.
After coming out of my house, everyone stood in the moonlight. I began to explain our life to these strangers from the alien planet.
“My ancestors are trapped here. The Sam Houston was unable to get up, and unexpected sunspot interference disabled the communication system. All women, whether wives or daughters, died. In decades, maybe hundreds of years, we can’t expect the headquarters to send people. Men live alone, and by the laws of nature they will die.
“Think about it, Captain, Doctor. These men were told before they came to this planet that they couldn’t count on help from others, that they had to build their own civilization, that they couldn’t rely on outside help; that they lived without female companions, There will be no heirs left; their civilization will perish of its own accord.”
“But they are not perishing,” interjected the captain, “there is a way for them to live in Chinan Davison.”
“Yes,” I said, “I’ve read all his notes and papers. He considered cloning, but that would have produced an all-male society, and that society would never be complete. Davidson was not a machismo, he felt strongly I realized that if we don’t infuse femininity, the civilization of our planet Vona will perish.”
“So, he began to study the only source of femininity that he had at hand—animals. Captain, you have to understand, then It was his only choice. He spent twenty years experimenting, transplanting, operating, and cultivating. The headquarters did not expect him to live for another twenty years. The first-generation prototype was ugly and far from human. However, As he continued to experiment, the model generation became closer to the human form.”
I hesitated for a moment, wondering if they would understand me. After all, I grew up with these ideas, and I know our history. But, can these outsiders understand?
“The first generation prototypes played a big role. They convinced the men in Werner that Davidson’s experiment would work. The prototypes Davison developed in the last few years were used. This time, they were a good fit for us The taste is almost acceptable…
“Almost? asked the captain.
“Felice is the product of the combination of human and animal genes for several generations. Each combined generation brought the resulting template a little closer to Davison’s dream of a ‘purely human woman’. We will never be able to get rid of the animal blood in our bodies, and Davidson believes that the human blood will dominate and the animal blood will be greatly reduced. Furthermore, he believes that those preserved animal blood can make our women better. It’s already possible for us to get there. I paused, remembering that we were going to Joe’s next step, and said, “But, I think we’re still a little farther away.” ”
Does Davison use other species besides cats?” Between the doctors.
I said: “There are several more.” When you get to Joe’s house, you’ll see another genetic template of Dr. Davison. ”
Why didn’t he focus on just one species, say apes.” asked the captain.
I said, “We didn’t bring the apes to Werner.” Moreover, Dr. Davison worries that one animal cannot contain all the femininity we need. He believes that a wide range of animal species will increase his chances of success. He could not guarantee that experiments on any kind of animal would be successful. If he was unsuccessful, he would have no time to experiment with a second animal. So, he experimented on many animals at the same time. Animals that do not produce acceptable results for humans are then eliminated.
“You haven’t asked what happened to the men on Planet Werner.”
I laughed and fell silent for a moment, letting our visitor guess for himself.
“The entire crew of the Sam Houston, the first citizens of the planet Vorner, died long ago. Fortunately, the boys born to our animal wives show no lessening of humanity This is what Davidson is most worried about. If these boys are going to be dehumanized just because they are human-animal hybrids, then this society in Davison is not going to be fully, or more human. development in the same direction, and we would not be what we are today. In other words, we would become a low-level race.”
“If there was even a little bit of that possibility, Davidson would never We create women. Werner’s men are purebred men anyway, and our blood predominates and will not accept animal blood. I’ve read all of Davidson’s notes on the subject, and a past Observations of several generations over the past century. Would you like to see them?”
I was talking to the Doctor, but I couldn’t bear to look at him. I tried to keep my voice as calm as possible, but I’m not sure if I succeeded.
“Maybe later,” the doctor replied, “before then, I’d like to see your women’s medical reports.” “Of course,” I said, “but first, we
want you to see other women.”
As I was walking down the street toward Joe McNutt’s house, I happened to glance back and saw Felicia following us to the porch and wrapping her body around the doorpost. The two big men looked at her step by step.
I heard one of them say, “Crazy cat in heat.”
“It’s a cute cat,” said the other, and they laughed.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget that laughter, malicious, full of arrogance and mockery. It reminded me of Moon Bridges, and I looked up to look for them and saw that the two moons were far apart.
Lilian gave them a hard look, and they fell silent, but they still snickered from time to time.
Joe went into the house first, and he led Clara into the bedroom, locked the door, and let us in. We hear Clara moving around inside, and occasionally, symbolically, slamming the door, as if she were about to break out.
Joe and Sam busily rearranged the furniture in the living room. In the past, I would not hesitate to help them, but now, I can’t forget the evil laugh of the big man, and the solid back of the captain, I suddenly feel embarrassed and want to withdraw from this ceremony.
They moved tables, chairs, and paintings from one wall to another. They rearranged the dishes and moved the sofa slightly to the right.
“Ready?” Sam asked.
“Okay.” Joe nodded, unlocked the bedroom door, and let Clara come out.
Clara hurried from the bedroom into the living room and froze. Her eyes widened, she looked around, and stood huddled.
Clara was not a very attractive woman, she stood there transfixed, her neck and nose longer than I remembered. Her hair was tied back in an awkward way, and she wore farsighted glasses on her face. She was wearing an old dress and a big apron. She stretched her neck and kept nodding her head, but her body didn’t move.
Clara’s children came out, three of them, curious about the commotion before them. Clara jumped up at once.
She screamed, “Children! Children!” and
she gathered them all into a corner.
“Clara,” Joe said, “it’s all right, all right, meet our guest.”
He looked at us beseechingly.
Sam interjected, saying, “Yes, Clara, it’s good to see you.”
He signaled us with gestures, which Lillian understood immediately.
“It’s nice to meet you, Clara,” she said.
The two burly men smiled and nodded at Clara, but she didn’t even look at them. They exchanged a look, and one of them said, “Bird.” I didn’t like either of them.
Clara is busy as the hostess. She guides everyone to their seats and mobilizes her children to help her. She quickly laid out the cheese, biscuits and tea. Then, when the kids were rowdy, she scrambled to put them to bed. When our conversations faltered, she would liven things up with a few hilarious stories and ask a few questions to keep the conversation going. She knows which two people are most suitable for talking together. She is good at reading people’s words and emotions, and understands the different interests of everyone. Under her coordination, everyone chatted and laughed, and the chat was very lively. She took my place as the main character, and I’m happy to be that way. I thought Clara would make a fool of us, and I was ashamed of it.
While Clara was out, Yamagushi whispered, “I don’t understand why we’re moving the furniture.”
“Clara’s a bit of a regionalist,” Joe replied. “If you don’t rearrange the furniture, she’ll think you’re invading.” her territory.”
“It’s incredible,” said Yamagusz, “so you locked her in another room, let us in, and rearranged the furniture.”
“That’s right,” Joe nodded, ” That way, when she comes out of the bedroom, she’ll feel like an intruder, as if she’s encroaching on your territory, so she’ll have to be nice.”
“Greetings?” said Yamagush.
“Er, dunno,” he said hesitantly, “I’d rather call it ‘friendly'”.
“Well,” Yamagush agreed, “I think I like the word ‘friendly, too.”
“Does she have any other…unusual features?” Lillian asked.
“There’s a lot more,” Joe replied. “You see, Clara is an intuitive person, and she does things all by instinct because, well, it works. She doesn’t think about things, she just does things. Some people don’t like Clara Humanoid” (he looks at me as he says this). “Some people don’t think they’re loving and considerate of others. Some people think their behavior is instinctive and repetitive.”
Joe stopped, shook his head, and continued: “I admit that people like Clara do some weird things sometimes. However, everyone saw what she did today, and she can make you feel like you are back to yourself.” And the way she takes care of her children. Maybe, in your eyes, she is not the prettiest. Maybe, she is not so attractive, but so what!” Joon burst into tears, Clenching both fists, “If you pay attention to her characteristics, you will find that she is better than everyone else!”
“No matter what time comes, I will choose Clara to share the bed with me .” instead of your dainty Claire, Sam. My God! She’s so timid, it’s such a bummer! I don’t care how pretty she is, Sam. If you can’t…” Jo looked at me sullenly. Said, “And, of course, Clara wouldn’t kill her own children.”
That nearly killed me. There was no sound in the room, and I felt ashamed. I closed my eyes, and after a while, I calmed down.
“It’s not Felicity’s fault,” I said, “it was an accident and it was my fault.”
But Joe wouldn’t listen to me. Clara came back and was standing in the doorway trembling. Her eyes were wide open, glaring at us. The arms on either side of her body are slightly arched upward. She is shaking.
“Uh… you better get out of here,” Joe suggested.
Clara walked up to Sam and slapped Sam hard on the shoulder. Then she clumsily rushed up to the two big men and started slapping them. Her hair stood on end in rage.
“Clara!” Joe yelled, “well, you all go.”
“What’s the matter?” Yamash and the others ran up and asked, “What’s the matter?”
“She sensed that we She’s not friendly with Joe, she’s defending what’s hers,” I said, pushing the Doctor out the door.
I was the last to leave. I turned to Clara and Joe before I stepped out and closed the door. They both trembled.
“I will never let you treat me like this again!” I said through gritted teeth, “I am a human being, your mayor and your friend. I will never allow you to treat me like this! Do you understand!”
They trembled, no Pause and nod. I turned around and slammed the door behind me.
“It’s late, maybe you’d like to go back to the spaceship.” I said to Sam and the guests.
“We’d like to see your records if possible,” Yamagushi said, glancing at the captain.
“I really want to see it right away. I’ve never seen this thing before.”
I nodded: ” Understandable. Captain, what do you think?”
She was reluctant. It was very late at night, and she didn’t intend to stay on board the spaceship all night. However, there is nothing to be afraid of, and there will be no danger.
She nodded and said, “Well, if you don’t bother, Alexandre.”
We split up. Sam leads the Doctor and a large man to Dr. Cooper. Me, Lillian and another soldier went back to my office.
“I need to contact my ship,” said the captain. “They’re waiting for us.”
“You’re far from the ship,” I said calmly.
There was no answer from her radio.
“Sunspots are so disruptive,” I explained, “communications can only be made within a few hundred yards. We can go back to the clearing where you can communicate with the ship, or wait for the ship to send someone Coming to you.”
She considered for a moment, then said to her guard, “Frank, you go back and tell the people on board that I’m not going back tonight.”
He walked toward the door.
“I…we can go together,” I said. I don’t like that, really don’t.
She must have sensed my awkwardness, but she let Frank go alone. I can only beg that no one will pay attention to him. Sniff, if only I stopped him. But, my God, what can I do? What can I do? I’ve been trying to get the night under control but they don’t listen to me or do what I say.
I can only imagine what it must have been like for Frank to walk alone on the rough dirt track. The sporadic wooden houses and plastic houses on both sides of the road are hidden in the dim moonlight and dark leaves at this time, and it is not easy to see clearly. The two moons must be far apart at this time. When Frank walked in the woods, the moonlight would shine through the leaves and cast little shadows on the ground. Our women often go out for walks at night, and so do the animals that are still alive, and they are quiet and peaceful at night. Therefore, Frank should not hear the animal’s cry.
But Frank would never tiptoe around a fallen branch. He will take firm steps and step over the branches with a clatter. Maybe the fool can whistle and sing ditties too.
After a while, he would notice the silence around him. His first reaction must have been to make a louder noise, to show the people of Werner his alien arrogance. Silence, however, would overcome his arrogance, and eventually, he himself would be silent, even filled with fear.
Although I’m not sure yet, maybe, he can still hear her approaching him.
“There is something I must tell you,” I said to the captain. “It is very important that you understand us. For, you and all the aliens will judge us. Only if you speak on our side can we Go on surviving.”
She refuted me first, then fell silent. I think she must have felt that what I said was right.
“You must know that we men of the planet Werner treat our women as inferior, and they are inferior, but you must also know that we love them, love them very much. That is why we tolerate them We say to ourselves, ‘What can we do? She’s just a woman.’ You can’t expect too much from a woman’. We say this not out of disrespect to women, but out of respect for us The love and tolerance of women.”
“Your presence poses a threat to them. Don’t you see? You’re one of us men. Our women fear we’ll abandon them for real women. And that’s easy. You don’t I don’t know how the men of Werner felt when they saw you, Captain, Lillian. You’re a woman, a real woman. No man here can imagine, with a real woman, What a woman is with a man of his kind. A woman of impeccable character.
“But Captain, we love our women, and we won’t leave them. Even real women can’t make us ditch them. ”
That’s fine, we don’t want you to do that either.” agreed the captain.
“Are you really so sure, Captain?” ’ I asked sarcastically, ‘what would your civilization think of us? We share beds with animals that are not quite human. Given a choice, would our sons take Werner’s women for wives, or real women? Will our daughter get married, or live in a zoo? Will we be laughed at? Our women are sure to be laughed at. You see, Captain, we didn’t spend all our nights praying for headquarters to send a ship, instead, the arrival of the ship was our worst nightmare. We show you hostility, but our hearts are filled with fear. We are very scared. And
then she took my hand and looked me straight in the eyes.
“We won’t hurt your women, friends,” she said softly, “and we won’t laugh at you. We will not send your daughters to zoos. Your group is brave and noble. We will respect it. ”
Our eyes met. This is a good woman. Are all real women like her? If so, how can we resist them? Once seduced by such pity…friendship…we take What about Claire, Clara, or even Felicia? Then I thought about those two big men and their laughter.
“I don’t think you’ll respect us, and I don’t think we’ll continue to respect ourselves. “I said emotionally.
She began to promise me again. Perhaps, this made me believe her even more. A sudden knock on the door interrupted her.
Before I could open the door, Sam barged in.
“Alex! Felicity caught something! She’s screaming outside the western perimeter! I’ve never heard her scream like that. Something must have happened!”
“Frank!” I yelled at the captain. With one sentence, he rushed out with her.
We ran less than a hundred yards before we found out where the screaming was coming from. Part of me wants to stop, go back to the office, close the door, sit in the chair, put my head in my hands, and think of nothing but escape. And there was another part of me that wanted violence, that wanted to tear the guy’s heart out. I’m going to make him miserable, like I’m feeling right now.
When we got outside where we lived, I smelled blood, I smelled her, and worse, I smelled him. I know what they both did.
I ran ahead of Lillian. I was so angry that I rushed into the thorny woods desperately.
“Felicia!” I cried miserably. Not because I want her to come to me, but because I want her to know that I am coming. I want her to run away, and I know she will. I don’t want, when I get to the damn place, to see her there.
When I finally reached the filthy place, Frank was pulling up his pants in a panic. I saw bloody scratches all over his body. Big beads of sweat flowed down his dirty flesh. I can imagine the burning sting he felt as the sweat poured into his wound. It feels like I’ve experienced it many times.
I stood there, glancing into the woods, and I saw Felicia running away quickly. How I wish I hadn’t seen this scene. The captain came up behind me, panting. I can feel her anger. But I didn’t wait for her to get angry, and I yelled at Frank, “Damn, you’re going to hell!”
“Hey, listen, man. That cat-like thing jumped out of nowhere. She wants In that case, I will…”
“Shut up, sir 1” the captain shouted, “Report to the detention center immediately, and you will be locked up!”
He was still defending. I did not want to face the captain, and walked away at once.
When Frank was gone, I fell to my knees and wept bitterly. I know Lillian is in front of me, but I just can’t help it. “Damn!” I screamed, “How could she do this: I know she’s talking to someone behind my back! I have to forgive her because she’s not a real person, but…dammit! Where’s the dignity?”
I begged look at her.
“Where’s the bloody dignity? I love her. But I can’t bear the humiliation. I…I can’t.”
She put an arm around me and we staggered away for a while.
She kept repeating, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
I needed to have my dignity. I married a lower than human being. I love this thing, but she keeps hurting me. How can I treat these aliens as their own kind? I lost my dignity, and I wanted them to repay my debt, so here’s what happened. I looked into her clear blue eyes and kissed her, Captain Liliand Hout. She kissed me back too. We are not in love, but I need her. She was very clear about it and very cooperative. What an incredible woman.
Let’s go back to the office together. I still don’t regret what I did that night. Yes, I never regret it.
In the morning, I was woken up by the sound of robins outside the window. From the dim light coming in from the window, I concluded that the sun hadn’t fully risen yet.
Lillian curled up beside me, her head resting on my chest. I moved and woke her up. She looked up wearily, and smiled at me, as if reassuring me that they would never hurt us.
I had a strange feeling after the passion that had arisen under the rage had been quelled. I’m used to Felicity’s crazy ways. Having sex with a superior animal like Lillian made me feel ridiculous, and I didn’t feel like I was in charge anymore. I was very uncomfortable that night. Lillian understood me, she was patient and gentle. This woman is remarkable in every way.
“Alexander,” she began, “what did Joe mean when he said ‘at least Clara didn’t kill her own children’?”
I sighed and said, “Joe is an idiot.” I hesitated for a long time, wondering if I should continue. But finally said it. “Felicia and I have a son. If he’s around, he’ll be five next month.”
Five years! Is it really so long? I haven’t thought about that little guy for a long time. Thinking that he should be five years old, tears filled my eyes. It took me a lot of effort to hold back the tears.
“Dan, we named him Daniel.”
“What happened?”
“I did something only a fool would do,” I said, “I paid too much attention to my son.”
” I don’t understand.”
“Felicia got more and more jealous of her son, and one day I came home and found Dan dead. He fell off the roof.”
“An accident?”
“A one-year-old child. How did you get on the roof?” I asked her back. Maybe, I’m not asking Lillian, but God.
“We haven’t had any children since then.”
“How can you live with her?”
I raised my hand helplessly. How can I explain to this woman what marriage on Werner really means? It means marrying an animal lower than oneself. Felicia is an intelligent animal. But she was controlled by emotion. She can no more ignore feelings than a rock can ignore gravity. Leaving Felicia, who do I go to? Go for someone like Chloe or Clara? No, she’s my wife, I accept her terrible flaws, and, besides, I love her. I couldn’t explain this to Lillian.
There was a light tapping at the window. The robin bird had stopped singing, so we thought it was beating rhythmically. We twisted our bodies to its rhythm. Her body is soft. She clings to me, making me feel calm and happy. We smiled knowingly.
“Shouldn’t the mockingbird see his work?” I said, raising the curtain.
Felicia pressed her face against the glass. As soon as she saw us, she widened her eyes, yelled and yelled, and frantically scratched the glass with her right hand.
My heart was in my throat, and Lillian screamed too. The glass was strong, but I knew she would break it sooner or later. We escaped from the room, dressing while running. There was the sound of glass being shattered behind him.
We ran all the way to the door of Dr. Cooper’s house and pounded on the door with our fists. While we yelled at him to come and open the door, we kept looking over our shoulders in case Felicia would burst out of the nearby bushes. We kept knocking on the door until our hands were broken and bleeding. Finally, Cooper opened the door, we both squeezed in, and slammed the door shut. Oh, we actually closed the door, and then there was a ferocious banging on the door outside. Lillian screamed and threw herself into my arms.
It wasn’t until mid-morning that we had the courage to leave the Cooper’s house. Yamagusz begged to stay longer, but the captain said nothing.
Escaping Felicity’s murder cost her dearly. She looked sullen and haggard, and her hands were still shaking. She commanded the ship sullenly. I know she’s going straight back to the ship, and I know she’s not coming back, ever. She did what she could for me and paid dearly for it.
I offered to accompany her back to the spaceship so that I could provide some more materials to Yamagush. She turned me down. Yamagush and I argued. She was reluctant to do this, but eventually gave in to our sensible arrangements. I can provide Yamagushi with valuable information, yes, I can. She also thought I was trying to stall for time and continue our relationship. She was wrong, very wrong.
We were about twenty yards from my office when the large man who was not in custody stopped abruptly.
Lillian drew her weapon alertly.
“Shoot,” she growled. Then she saw what we all saw, and she took her hand away from the weapon, and we all stood still, not even daring to breathe for fear of making a sound.
Just thirty yards ahead of us, there was a creek that came out of a side wood. The charming Kloe is drinking water by the stream, but she didn’t hear our voices.
Her skin was as white as milk, her hair was chestnut, and her legs were long and thin and strangely beautiful. Her small nose is turned up. The eyes were so large that human eyes could not be compared with them, and when she blinked, it was as if someone’s face was opening and closing.
“What is she?” asked Yamagush.
Suddenly, Claire’s back stiffened. She poked her head forward, then tilted her head sideways, her ears pricked up. Like a statue, she merged with the beautiful scenery around her. She spotted us and ran away. No one could have imagined that her slender legs could run so fast, and they disappeared in a blink of an eye.
“She’s a woman,” I said defiantly, “despite her ancestry being deer.”
Lillian said only one thing, “Very beautiful.”
Sam grinned to his ears in delight. I nodded to him, thinking, what’s the use of being happy for a moment? Yes, Sam, these strangers admire Claire’s beauty, but does that guarantee that her children will not be sent to the zoo? Does that guarantee that they will not be treated as second class? Are citizens discriminated against? Does that guarantee that they will not be humiliated? I see no guarantees.
I spent three days on the ship answering Yamagushi’s questions. I gave truthful answers to unimportant questions, but I also lied when necessary. During this time, the captain and I rarely saw each other. By the third night, my mission was accomplished. I told them that Felicia must have calmed down, that I would go home and make peace with her, and that there would be no danger.
Lillian came to me before I left. What she said then lingers in my mind to this day.
“Aric Sander,” she said, “we’ll break through the sun and black and go out to the black and report to headquarters and tell them about Sam Houston. My dear Horik Sander, I promise, I’ll Talk to them what you think, and I’ll tell headquarters about Zina Davison, about your daring experiments, and about your beautiful women. We’ll treat your women well, I promise. I want the headquarters to understand and respect you.” At that moment, I saw fear in her clear blue eyes. That might have been the fear of Felicia, and that would have been understandable. It could also be a fear of being in love, and that would have been understandable as well.
However, Lilian Dahout was the captain of the boat. She’d seen scarier things than Felicia, and, I suspect, Lillian was content with me and her.
Yes, I am more inclined to think that Lillian has already guessed the truth of the matter. I think she had already guessed that China Davison never believed that the blood of the people could play a decisive role. I think she guessed that while our women will become more and more like humans, our men will all become more and more like animals.
I think she’s probably in love with me, at least a little bit, and I think she’s terrified of falling in love with something that’s not really a person. They belong to the superior race. We were never as savvy as they were. Compared with us, they are simply resourceful and brilliant intellectual giants. However, their thoughts may be disturbed by emotions such as love, fear, and more. I think that’s why she didn’t expect me to plant that bomb on her boat.
I regret that I killed Lillian, Dr. Yamagush, and the others, but I can’t get them to tell headquarters about us. We are inferior to them, and I cannot let them laugh at us, ridicule us, associate us with lower animals; or even put us in cages.
I don’t think they’ll send another ship anytime soon, because I’m sure they’d never take the risk of sending one of their precious ships after the loss of two ships on Werner. In the future, maybe they will come, but who dares to say what our place will be like by then?
Perhaps, Dr. Chinar Davison’s views will be proven wrong. Maybe, after a while, we can really evolve into pure human beings, instead of just being somewhere between man and beast. Until that time, though, these strangers are destined to be our enemies.
The above is the record of the headquarters light ship Sadat.
I folded the record and looked up at the falling, shiny metal fragments that had once been the Sadat spaceship. Felicity…will be waiting for me. If not at home, maybe on the road somewhere. Thinking of her makes me smile. I picked up my crutches, straightened my tie, and walked straight home. Maybe she’ll forget what happened lately. Tonight, we’re going to make love, we’re going to have crazy sex. Or maybe, she’ll kill me, her feelings are fickle and unpredictable. But she drives me crazy, she’s my wife and I have no choice.
