History

Previously, it was a desolate and undeveloped island. In 1968, Dr. Hassan Rajab, a famous Egyptian historian and historian of ancient Egypt, was on his way to Yeajib Island in Giza County, south of Cairo, to plant papyrus. He discovered that the island was surrounded by water and completely isolated from the outside world. .

The vegetation on the island is verdant, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, and being on the scene is like being in a paradise. So he germinated a plan to fully reproduce the social life of the Pharaoh’s era, and received strong support from the Egyptian government. After more than 9 years of construction, this ancient Egyptian-style antique tourist attraction – “Pharaoh Village” was finally built on Jacob Island in accordance with historical records.

The village covers an area of ​​150,000 square meters and was officially opened to the outside world in 1977, becoming another major tourist attraction in Egypt. Stepping into the pharaoh’s village, there are many sculptures of gods standing amidst papyrus, flowers and green leaves.

One of the most striking is a tall blue-blue statue. He holds two pottery jugs in his hands, as if welcoming guests from afar. This is the famous statue of the Nile God, who brought clear springs for the sons and daughters of Egypt. Another group of eye-catching statues are the characters Osiris, his brother Seth, his wife Isis and his son Horas in the famous Egyptian mythology.

According to legend, Osiris was a king of ancient Egypt. After being killed by his younger brother Seth, his body was broken into thousands of pieces. After a fight with his uncle Seth, Lars finally defeated Seth and inherited his father’s throne.

Among the statues around the island, there is another statue that is different from other gods, that is, the god of Perth. He had horns on his head, and his face was ugly, like a monster. But the legendary God of Perth has a good heart, always safeguarding the interests of human beings, and protecting people from various disasters. In addition to the statues of emperors and gods in the pharaoh village, there are also statues of farmers and handicraftsmen in the pharaoh era.

These statues are realistic in shape, some are plowing the ground with a wooden plow, some are holding the ground preparation tools to draw lines on the ground, some are sowing, absorbing water to irrigate the field, harvesting the fields, and some are playing beautiful tunes with a flute in their hands… no All in one.

In addition to statues, there are pharaoh temples in the village, which are completely built according to ancient styles. There is a long passage in front of the gate of the temple, facing the river on one side and a row of stone statues of rams on the other. Stepping into the gate, there is a long corridor with a row of stone statues of sphinx and sheep head on both sides. At the end of the promenade are two towers, between which is the main gate.

Entering the main door, is the colonnade. Through the colonnade is a house. The light starts to dim from here, and the further you go, the darker the light becomes, until it is completely dark, and you will arrive at the temple where the pharaohs worshiped the gods. The dim light casts a layer of mystery on the temple. There is a pure gold statuette inlaid with precious stones in the center of the temple, and visitors are generally prohibited from visiting the temple.

The last part of the pharaoh village is the farmhouse, with milky white brick walls and roofs made of date palm leaves, simple and quiet. In addition, there are statues of Tutankhamun and some other pharaohs in the village. There are ponds where pharaohs fished, as well as handicraft workshops in the pharaoh era.

Today, more than 400 young men and women are engaged in tourism in the pharaoh village. They wear the costumes of the pharaoh era, use the production tools of that time, and engage in farming, fishing, hunting and handicrafts in the way of the ancient Egyptians. There are more than 5,000 ancient trees planted on the island.
