Henry Fayol’s theory

Henry Fayol, a French industrial engineer. Wrote a book called ” General and Industrial Administration ” in 1916 based on his experience as a manager for a long time. And compiled into the principles of management Henry Fayol believes it is possible for us to find a way to study the science of management that can be applied to all forms of management. Whether it is industrial management, government work, other institutions, Henry Fayol’s idea is to find rules in management that are universal (Univeral) . It is essential for managers to have responsibilities regarding organizational responsibilities. Henry Fayol’s ideas can be summarized as follows:

1) Principles of Management Functions

The work management process consists of 5 functions, also known as POCCC , which is the first letter of each function as follows:

P = Planning

Planning (Planning) refers to anticipating various situations in advance. that will affect the business and set up an action plan or the way to be practiced in the future

O = Organizing

Organization management ( Organizing ) refers to the organization of various work structures. And the authority to be in the appropriate components that will help the organization to achieve success.

C = Command

Command ( Command) means to order various tasks. to subordinates which executives must act as a good role model and must understand the operator as well as understand the work agreement of the workers and existing organizations, including communication within the organization

C = Coordinate

Coordinate ( Coordinate ) means that everyone’s work is linked together. and eventually, reach the same goal.

C = Control

Control ( Control ) refers to the need to supervise the activities that are done in accordance with the plan. Verification against established goals If the goal is not achieved, a new amendment must be made and the standard is set. In the event that the goal is achieved, the standard must be maintained.

The five functions of management as defined by Henri Fayol are Planning, Organizing, Command, Coordination, and Control. These five functions comprise “management”, one of the six industrial activities described in Henri Fayol management theory. Henri Fayol is widely regarded as the father of modern management.
