Saudi Arabia: The Idea to Build a Dune Yacht World’s Largest
The name Pangeos resembles a turtle. Within about 60,000 residences, it is a large floating city. Inside the ship are beaches, sports grounds, hotels, villas, resorts, apartments, large rooftop gardens. and even shopping malls, seaports/airports, and other facilities.
Terayacht Pangeos is 550 meters long, 610 meters wide, and has 60,000 rooms. The ship is designed to be equipped with 9 HTS engines, each motor powered entirely by electricity. Each producing 16,800 horsepower each, capable of delivering enough power to keep the ship moving at 5 knots (5.7 mph/9.2 kph). The basement consists of storage compartments and is connected by a corridor. Ship energy is clean energy from waves, wind and roofs. Ship structures receive solar energy.
Designed by Italian design studio Lazzarini, the concept of the terayacht was born in 2009 when designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini envisioned the construction of a giant ship that could accommodate an entire city. As a mobile floating city, the giant stern structure allows smaller boats to enter the floating city aft. and on the side of the boat Pangeos will travel around the world indefinitely. If the concept comes true, the ship will be built in a 390,000 sq m shipyard in Saudi Arabia.
