The Palace of Westminster is a Building complex in London, England
The building of palace is located on the banks of the River Thames in the urban area of Westminster, London. The building itself is a newly built and partially restored palace in 1860, that is, it is not an ancient monument in the usual sense. Originally, it was a combination of various buildings around the burnt-down old castle.
Some artifacts and part of the palace can then be preserved. The British restored everything they could, but after a while, Nazi pilots damaged the complex again during the war. However, even so, part of the palace has survived.
The Palace of Westminster is a true symbol of London, and of the whole of Britain, where the British government now sits. The palace has about 1200 rooms and houses, more than 5 kilometers of corridors and 100 staircase structures. By the way, anyone can watch the country’s government at work – just go through a few security checkpoints.
According to British tradition, the country’s parliament does not work between August and September, when “commoners” tours take place around the palace. Issue prices range from £9 to £21.
