Chao Song (Qi County Chronicle)
Chaoge (Pinyin: Zhāogē, 朝歌), located on Chaoge Street, Qi County, Hebi City, Henan Province. Wu Yi of the Shang Dynasty built a companion capital here, called Chaoge. When King Wu conquered Yin, Emperor Xin was defeated in a battle in Muye on the outskirts of Chaoge, and the Shang Dynasty fell. King Cheng of Zhou quelled the rebellion of the Sanjian and divided the former Yin and Shang Wangji area into three: Bei in the north, Wei in the south, and Jun (Jun, pinyin: Xùn) in the east. Uncle Kang was enshrined in Weiguo, and his capital was in Chaoge City for hundreds of years.
Chaoge County was established in the Han Dynasty; Chaoge still played a certain role in the Eight Kings Rebellion in the Western Jin Dynasty; Qizhou was established in the Yuan Dynasty; it was changed to Qi County in the Ming Dynasty. During the period of the People’s Republic of China, the seat of the Qixian County Government was Chaoge Town. In 2010, Chaoge Town was revoked and changed to Chaoge Street in Qi County.
After Shang Pangeng moved to Xiaotun Village, Anyang, Henan, it was called Yin. “Bamboo Book Chronicles,” said: “From Pan Geng’s migration to Yin, until the destruction of Zhou, he did not move to the capital.” Yin is the main capital, Chaoge is only the accompanying capital, and Chaoge and Yinxu are two different place names.
