What does Pentecost look like in the Netherlands

Pentecost is one of the traditional festivals in Christian countries, and the Netherlands also celebrates Pentecost. Pentecost in the Netherlands is called Pinksteren and falls every year seven weeks after Easter. Whitsunday is an official holiday in the Netherlands, and there are two days off.
Pentecost, also known as Pentecost, is a Christian holiday celebrated to commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit after Jesus was resurrected. According to the Bible, Jesus sent “the Holy Spirit” on the 50th day after his resurrection; the disciples received the Holy Spirit and began to preach. Pentecost is the seventh Sunday after Easter, and is closed on the following Monday. Festive time: 10 days after the Ascension Day. Also translated as “Advent of the Holy Spirit”, one of the major Christian holidays.
According to the “Bible New Testament”: Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to descend on the 50th day after his resurrection. After receiving the Holy Spirit, the disciples began to spread the gospel to all parts of the world. The church defines Pentecost on the 50th day after Easter every year. The Easter period refers to the 50-day period from Easter Sunday until Pentecost. After the church has passed the Easter period, it will enter the day of Pentecost.
The Catholic Liturgical Year stipulates that the 50th day after Easter every year is “Pete”, also known as “Pentecost” (originally an important holiday for Jews). Pentecost is the seventh Sunday after Easter. The New Testament says that Jesus ascended to heaven on the 40th day after his resurrection, and “sent” the Holy Spirit on the 50th day.
At that time, the Virgin and the disciples were praying at the supper, and the Holy Spirit descended in “the sound of the wind and the shape of the tongue of fire”. The apostles received the Holy Spirit and began to preach, marking the beginning of the church age. Pentecost is a very important holiday in Catholicism and is often regarded as the second holiday after Easter.
During the Pentecost celebrations, the Catholic Mass costumes are red. According to Pope Innocent’s interpretation, the red color recalls the image of the tongue of fire, which is full of magical power when the Holy Spirit comes. Pentecost is a public holiday in some Western countries. Religiously, the festival lasts a week, but public holidays are only 1-2 days long.
The Dutch Whitsunday Pinksteren, also known as Pentecost, is an event that has been held for 37 years in Borne, a small town in the Dutch province of Twente. Young girls wear white dresses similar to wedding dresses, and some wear garlands , going door to door asking for candy, and then singing and dancing in the downtown square, a beautiful picture of youth.
This event is called Pinksterbruidjes in Dutch, so it can be translated as “Little Bride of Pentecost”, and girls over 5 years old can participate. These girls are in blocks of 10 to 15 people. One of them wears a wreath and carries flowers. This is the group’s Rosa, let’s call her “Kao”.
She was in the center, standing in the middle of a flower arch, gathered in the central square, singing and dancing. The event, organized by the dedicated event group Stichting Folkloregroep Borne, is gaining increasing support and has been included in the Dutch cultural heritage list since 2015.
