Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary got its status of a reserve forest in 1971. The main reason was the dwindling number of Rhinos in the area before 1971. This sanctuary has a flat land coupled with a gentle inclination in the direction of east to west, excluding the region of Burha-Mayong hillock.
