What is a computer?
Computer is an electronic device. that can receive information and commands and then processed to get the desired results.
Type of computer
Classification of computer will rely on the speed of processor and memory size of the storage unit which can be divided into 4 types:
- Supercomputers
- Mainframe Computers
- Minicomputers
- Microcomputers
Computer System computer system is divided into 3 systems:
1. Hardware is a computer device that we can touch and see. Therefore, a device that is a computer or connected to a computer is considered a Hard Ware. Hard Ware devices are divided into 3 functions is
1.1. Input Unit is a device that serves to receive data such as Keyboard, Mouse, Mouse.
1.2. Processing Unit is a device that performs processing, including CPU (Central Processing Unit) , here it is The metal box that is located, that’s it, we call the CPU.
1.3. Output Unit is a device that performs the output of the output such as Monitor, Printer , Scanner , Scanner, Speaker , Speaker, Projector , Projector.
There are also devices that act as both Input Unit and Output Unit, such as a disc recorder/reader (Disk Drive), CD recorder/reader (CD Read/Writer), and digital camera system.
2. SoftWare is a computer program. looks like a set of instructions that was written from Computer Language (Computer Language) to instruct various computer equipment to perform the tasks that the user wants. Soft Ware is divided into two main types:
2.1 System SoftWare is a computer control program. or we call it another Operating system program (OS = Operating System), for example, on Main Frame Computers it uses a machine driver named UNIX, on a Mini Computer it uses a driver named OS/2, on a Micro Computer or a PC it uses. A driver program called DOS, or is currently being used as a very popular Microsoft Windows program itself. There are several versions (Version) come out such as Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and most recently Windows XP
2.2 Application SoftWare is an application used for various tasks on the computer. which must be written from a computer language such as a general packaged program, including
- Microsoft Word is a program used for general printing tasks.
- Microsoft Excel is a program used for calculations, tables, statistics, graphs.
- Microsoft PowerPoint is a program used for making slides, presentations .
- Microsoft Access is a program used for databases (Data Base Management).
We generally use these 4 software packages in various workplaces collectively known as Microsoft OFFICE .
There are also other programs that can be used such as Microsoft Publisher is a program used to create business cards, placards, cards. AutoCAD is a program used for drawing. PhotoShop is a program used to edit photos. 3D Studio is an animation program. Page Maker is a program about printing houses, etc.
3. People Ware is computer personnel. Have a duty to work in the field of computers which the computer work It will divide different duties. Can divide personnel on the computer. in various positions, as follows:
- BOSS is the position of the top management, for example, the owner of Microsoft is Bill Gate.
- Admin is the position of various department managers, such as Word Development Manager, etc.
- System Analysis is the position of an analyst. and system design
- Programmer is a programmer position. (This position is considered the most important)
- The operator is an administrator position similar to a computer technician.
- Users are the location of the user of the computer.
- Data Entry is the location of the person entering data into the computer.
