Both languages ​​and Chinese accents differ in China.

Basically, we may divide Chinese into seven large groups based on the number of people who speak it:

  • Cantonese ( Traditional Chinese : 粵語, Simplified Chinese : 粤语, Pinyin : Yue yǔ Yue -Yue , translation: Cantonese )
  • Hokkian or Min ( Traditional Chinese : 閩方言, Simplified Chinese : 闽方言, Pinyin : Mǐnfāngyán , Minfangyan , translation: Min accent) in Fujian or Hokkian Province.
  • Xiang ( Traditional Chinese : 湘語, Simplified Chinese : 湘语, Pinyin : Xīang yǔ Xiangyu , translation: Hunan dialect)
  • Hakka ( Traditional Chinese : 客家話, Simplified Chinese : 客家话, Pinyin : Kèjiāhuà , Kejiahua , translation: Hakka) or Hakka.
  • Gan ( Traditional Chinese :贛語, Simplified Chinese : 赣语Ganyu , translation: Jiangxi)

In addition, linguists have divided the Chinese language into three categories from the above large groups:

  • Jin ( Traditional Chinese : 晉語, Simplified Chinese : 晋语, Pinyin : Jìnyǔ Jinyu ) is derived from Mandarin.
  • Hui ( Traditional Chinese : 徽語, Simplified Chinese : 徽语, Pinyin : Huīyǔ , Huiyu ) or ( Traditional Chinese : 徽州話, Simplified Chinese : 徽州话, Pinyin : Huīzhōuhuà Hui) Zhou Hua ), separated from Wu.
  • Ping ( Traditional Chinese : 平話, Simplified Chinese : 平话, Pinyin : Ping yǔ Pingyu ) , derived from Cantonese.
