Irohazaka Road is near Central Nikko on the Mountains of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Irohazaka (Iroha-zaka or いろは坂) is a pair of winding roads that connect to the lower elevations near central Nikko Town in the mountains of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. This is the higher elevations of the mountainous. Irohazaka Road is also a pair of famous winding roads. It’s the main access to connect the lower elevations around and the roads were first built in year 1954 . During year 1965 have been modernized and made wider.

This Romantic Roads in Irohazaka is call “Irohazaka Winding Road”. It’s one of the most beautiful road when autumn leaves in Japan begin. The distance is about 350 kilometers run from Ueda city in Nagano Prefecture to follow in Gunma Prefecture and finish at Nikko town. On the way will be a path up and down to the hill bend to the curve when driving up at the top of the mountain and when you look down will be able to see the road surrounded.

The highlighted spot to see the winding road is in the form to the hill on 120th Street and take about 40 minutes away from Nikko town.

How to get to Irohazaka Road:

  • By bus or car
  • By Buses and cars surely pass this road between Nikko city and Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Waterfall.
  • From Nikko continue along the 120th road for about 40 minutes or 30 kilometers. The highlight point will be before reach to Chuzanji Lake.
