Heart Failure (Acute Heart Muscle Weakness)

Acute myocardial infarction syndrome associated with severe stress sometimes called Stress Cardiomyopathy

Heart Failure is an acute myocardial infarction syndrome associated with severe stress sometimes called Stress Cardiomyopathy , medically known as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy , is a vessel used by the Japanese to catch squid. Because when myocardial infarction (partial) when cardiac catheterization and injection of contrast agents will get a picture of a heart bulging like such a vessel Therefore, this name has been used to refer to this disorder since 1990 (B.E. 2533).

The cause of this condition is unknown but is believed to be related to hormones from intense stress, such as adrenaline, which increases the need for energy and oxygen but insufficient blood flow leads to weakening of the heart muscle, aneurysm, and pumping of blood in the body. Failure Stress can be a physical stress condition such as a serious illness or accident. or severe mental stress, such as the unexpected loss of a loved one Although referred to as Broken Heart Syndrome, the condition is associated with physical stress rather than mental stress. Found in females more than males

Symptoms

The patient has chest pain, and shortness of breath due to congestive heart failure. inadequate blood flow, swelling, and inability to lie down in more severe cases, especially if there are other serious physical illnesses may be fatal

Diagnosis

In addition to a detailed history and physical examination, the patient must undergo special cardiac examinations, especially electrocardiogram ( EKG) , blood tests, heart and lung X-rays. Echocardiogram. However, patients in heart failure often have abnormal electrocardiograms. Abnormal results of blood enzymes in the heart muscle similar to patients with coronary artery embolism ( Heart attack) . Differential diagnosis often requires cardiac catheterization and injection of contrast agents to look at the coronary arteries. In a broken heart, there will be no blockage in the coronary arteries.

Treatment

Because there is no coronary artery blockage, it does not need to be treated with dilatation of the coronary arteries like in the case of coronary artery embolism ( Heart attack) . Treat physical disorders that cause severe stress. Most patients with weakened myocardium will recover gradually and return to normal in 4-8 weeks .

Your doctor may prescribe medication to reduce stress on your heart’s functioning and prevent future conditions, such as the use of antihypertensive drugs (ACE-types) or ( ARBs) , beta blockers, medications. Diuretics or blood clot-dissolving drugs in the event that the patient has a blood clot in the heart.

Surgical treatment

Guidelines for treating a heart attack, such as a balloon or stent insertion. It will not help treat myocardial infarction. Because of such treatment will focus on solving coronary artery stenosis which is not the cause of myocardial infarction
