Five Goat Monument or Guangzhou’s Five Rams Sculpture is located atop Yuexiu Hill in Guangzhou province of China. It was builted in 1960 from more than 130 pieces of granite and is one of the city’s emblems. The sculpture represents the five rams who gave Guangzhou its nickname “City of Rams” and were formerly honored at its Temple of the Five Immortals. Legend has it that more than 2,000 years ago, the city was a barren land with people who despite hard work were suffering from famine. Five Goat Monument is also the agricultural fertility of a symbol of Guangzhou to this day.
