Looking at the plot without the end of the plot, Yuri seemed to be alienated from her husband and focused only on her daughter. This is understandable. He has remarried. I can’t help wondering if this implies that Yuri’s return is to support her family’s new life, rather than asking her to simply return and replace everything. Because if Minjeong is about to divorce, it would make things too easy, right? If this is judgment rather than reward, perhaps Yuri will be asked to choose between his selfish desires and the best outcome for everyone in his daughter’s life.
Having Yuri perform the task correctly can advance the plot, but Midongdaek’s explanation is a bit convenient. I think I’m glad she can adapt to the will of the universe, because otherwise we won’t know what the goal is, but yes, I hope she will do more than just provide an unexplained dump of world-building information. Yuri will need to get feedback on her progress, but she also needs friends to help her through the difficulties, and those who are not her past can help her see things clearly.
