In Thailand, we have many important Buddhist days together. I believe that many people tend to take the opportunity of this important Buddhist day to go to the temple to make merit for the prosperity of life. and one of the most popular merit-making is consecration In which we will come to understand the meaning of the word sangha dana , including the correct way of sacrificing offerings in order to bring the most merit to the donor.

What is preaching?

Sangha is divided into two words, “ Sangha ” and “ Dan ” , where Sangha refers to two or more monks, and dana means giving, sharing, and distributing objects of four elements with pure intentions. When combining the meanings, “ Sangkhadana ” means the offering of objects to the monks with the intention of dedicating them as belongings. (a group of monks or all monks) with pure intentions This is to encourage Buddhists not to tie Buddhism to people. because the person is uncertain

Therefore, the intention to make offerings to any particular monk is known as “Patipukkikadana” We do not call it an offering of alms. Because such alms do not help to keep the mind away from attachment. But still, it is still considered as a gift that should be done because it is a training for the individual to know how to develop oneself to have dharma.

Where does the offering of offering come from?

During the Buddha’s time, Phra Nang Maha Pajapati (Phra Mae Nam) wanted to offer a robe to the Buddha.
