Asalha Puja History

Asalha Puja (วันอาสาฬหบูชา)
Asanha Bucha Day falls on the full moon day of the 8th month before the Buddhist Lent. (Purim Buddhistsa begins From the first day of the waning moon of the 8th month in a year without a leap onwards until the 15th day of the 11th lunar month) 1 day is the day of the Buddha’s first sermon, which is the first sermon.
Name: Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta please. At Isipat Maruekhathaiyawan Forest, Muang Varanasi, in the first year of his enlightenment and because of the results of this sermon, he Kondanya in the number of Panchavakkeys in all 5 received the Dharma eye (Sotapattimagya is the wisdom that leads to success.) The eyes see the Dharma, which is the wisdom to see the truth. Anything that happens is normal. All things have a natural cessation. It is the first noble monk of Buddhism and completes the Three Jewels, namely the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
When this day of every year comes around to the Buddhists Therefore, it is especially popular to worship and Buddhists in some places. Also named this Asanha Bucha Day as “Monks Day”, there is Asanha, which is the 8th month. Asanha Bucha is the worship of monks on the full moon day of the 8th month.
What is the significance of the full moon day of the 8th month? will bring one part of the Buddha’s history to tell the following From the day that the Lord Buddha had enlightenment, that is, on the full moon day of the 6th month, he sat down to Muttisuk in the area of that Bodhimandha for 7 weeks:
- 1st week, remained seated with the immortal wood, which is the Great Bodhi Tree Because he was attained enlightenment, he spent seven days contemplating and reviewing the Dhamma.
- 2nd week, went to the northeast of the Bodhi Tree Standing outdoors, gazing at the Great Bodhi Tree by He did not blink his eyes in one place until seven days, the place where he stood, later called “Animism Chedi”
- 3rd week, went to sit in the middle between the Animissa Chedi and the Great Bodhi Tree, and stayed there for seven days, which later called that place “Jong Krom Chedi”
- 4th week, went to the west of the Maha Bodhi Tree sat across the throne contemplating the Abhidhamma for 7 days, sat cross-legged on the diamond Later it was called “Rattanakhara Chedi”.
- 5th week, he went to the eastern part of the Maha Bodhi Tree and sat wielding a banyan tree named Achapal Nigroth for 7 days, during that time solved the problem of a brahmin who asked about being a Brahmin
- 6th week, He went to the southeast of the Maha Bodhi Tree. For seven days, he sat on a stick swinging and enjoying the blissful rain. The serpent encircled him and spread the roof over the rain, causing him to exclaim in praise of the solitude and unrest in the world.
- 7th Week, His Highness moved to the south of the Maha Bodhi Tree. For seven days, two merchants named Tapussa and Bhallika had journeyed from the rural Ukala to that place. saw the Buddha sitting therefore bring the rice which was their own provision, went to offer to him, finished eating The two merchants declared themselves to be worshipers. This was the first pair of worshipers in the history. Having considered the world after the seventh week, His Highness returned to sit and swing a banyan tree named Achapal Nigroth, considering that the Dharma that He had enlightened was so profound that it was difficult for other beings to know accordingly. He was dismayed at teaching animals. but relying on the grace as the location He foresaw that in this world there would be people who could know accordingly.
Now denoting the four persons, compare them with the four types of lotus flowers:
1. Ugghattanyu means one who has the character of being able to immediately know the magical Dharma while being instructed by a teacher. compare like a lotus flower that has already emerged from the water ready to bloom in the light of the sun that day
2. Vipacittayu means one who is able to know the supernatural dharma. Only when you expand the abbreviation to the strange, it is like a lotus that is always standing at the water level. will bloom the next day
3. Neyya: one who perseveres, listens, thinks, asks, always recites it without abandoning it. Therefore, he learned a wonderful Dhamma, like a lotus that had not yet emerged from the water. nourished by water but will appear and bloom in the following days
4. Paddavaram: those who, even listening, thinking, asking, and reciting, are unable to know the magic, is like a lotus under water next to a husk. The nest will be the food of fish and turtles. when seeing this therefore agreed to teach He thought of those who should be favored first, which are Al-Dabs and Udok-dabs. These people have no merit. There will be only Panchawak Key He decided that Should please Panchawak Key first. and went out and walked away from the banyan tree Heading to the forest of Isipat Maruekhathaiyawan Mueang Varanasi.
The journey from Phra Si Maha Phot Subdistrict Until he reached Varanasi like this, it showed that the great persistence was his determination to give the first sermon to Panchawakki as the first. The road between Phra Si Maha Phot Sub-district to Varanasi is currently 7-8 hours by train. It may take several days. But it appears that when the evening of the 15th day of the month of Asalha itself
The Buddha then arrived at Isipat Maruekhathaiyawan Forest, Varanasi Province, which is the address of Pachawakkey. As they approached the forest, they saw that they would make an appointment that they would not pay homage, not get up, and not accept the alms bowl and rob the alms bowl only for the seat. because he understands has become a very greedy person with no perseverance when he arrived Each of them spoke to him without respect for him, forbidding him and saying that he had attained enlightenment and would teach the Dharma to listen to the five brahmins.
Finally, His Highness reminded him that Has he ever said this in the past? The five brahmins, remembering, immediately calmed down and listened to the Dharma.
That evening, he was staying with the five brahmins on the full moon day of the month Asalha. He began to perform the Dhamma-Chakkappavattana Sutta. This is the first sermon for Panchawakkey. In essence, His Highness exalted the two sides, namely making oneself difficult through physical torture. And not doing oneself to enjoy the pleasures of sensual pleasures, these two are considered depraved. should not be consumed only in the middle way is proper practice and then showed the Middle Path, the Noble Eightfold Path, namely:
1. Sammaditthi agrees
2. Sammā sankappa, good intentions
3. Right speech
4. Right action
5. Right vocation and livelihood
6. Sammavayama Pianchob
7. Right mindfulness
8. Concentration, good intentions
Summarized with the 4 Noble Truths:
1. Suffering, physical discomfort and discomfort
2. Samudaya cause of suffering
3. Nirodha the cessation of suffering
4. The path leading to the cessation of suffering
The pointed out by forethought and symptoms that, upon knowing, may confirm that fully enlightened The liberation and the end of life, of course, while he was preaching this Dharma, Lord Kondanya shone along until he was born. “Ananya” “Ananya” (Konthanya already knows) because His Highness exclaimed this after Lord Kondanya has a new name. “Anya Kondanya”, but then asked his ordination to grant permission with Ehibhiku concessions. It is the first monk in the religion to be ordained by the Buddha. According to the Buddha’s history, it can be seen that Asanha Bucha Day is important.
1. It was the first day that the Lord Buddha preached his religion.
2. It is the first day that the Master preached the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, proclaiming the truth which is the body of enlightenment.
3. It is the day when the first Noble Sangha disciple was born in the world, Phra Anya Kondanya. had eaten Ehibhiku ordination that day
4. It was the first day that the Sangharatana was born as the Triple Gem, namely the Buddha Ratana, the Dharma Ratana, and the Sangharatana.

The ceremonies and prayers performed on Asanha Bucha Day are the same as those performed on Visakha Bucha Day.
