Story 141: Drink Wedding Wine Folktales

Drink Wedding Wine

Author: Anonymous

The little rabbit was lying on the grass, basking in the sun comfortably. Suddenly a big male wolf and a fox came running. The big male wolf showed his long teeth and said: “Little rabbit, we are so hungry that our bellies are pressed against our backs, but you are here to bask in the sun comfortably. This is so unfair. Come here and give us a snack, okay?” ”

When the little rabbit heard this, he was so scared that he quickly begged the big male wolf: “Master, look at me, I’m so thin, I’m not as good as a child’s fist…”

The fox put his paws on the little rabbit’s back and said with a smile: “Little rabbit, you’re welcome. As the saying goes: Although the rabbit is small, it tastes best! Brother Wolf, drink tea while it’s hot and eat meat while it’s fresh. Let’s do it. !”

“Slow! Slow!” The rabbit jumped hard, got into the firewood and said, “Mr. Wolf, Sister Fox, someone in the village invites me to a wedding wine tonight. After I drink the wedding wine, I will let you eat me, okay? ?”

“Drinking wedding wine? What does drinking wedding wine mean?” The wolf and fox put down their paws at the same time and asked together. This seemed quite new to them.

“Do you want to have wedding wine?” The little rabbit slowly came out of the firewood, squatted on the small mound, and introduced them to them with great dignity: “Drinking wedding wine means attending the wedding! Singing, dancing, drinking, and eating meat , it’s really the most interesting place in the world.”

The wolf and the fox discussed it and agreed to eat it tomorrow and let it lead them to a wedding banquet tonight. The rabbit quickly replied: “Okay! Okay!”

In the evening, the rabbit took the fox and the wolf to the house where the wedding was held. They crawled into the yard from the gutter, and then jumped from the small window into the warehouse containing highland barley wine and meat. The wolf, the fox and the little rabbit were sitting on the window sill one by one. They saw many lights lit in the yard and many people surrounding them. They presented khatas and toasted to the bride and groom, and some people were singing, dancing and performing. Tibetan opera is really lively.

The little rabbit said: “It’s not interesting just to watch, let’s hold a wedding too!” The wolf and the fox asked: “How to hold it?” The little rabbit said: “The powerful master wolf will be the groom, and the fox sister will be the young and beautiful bride. My little rabbit has no money and power, so I just want to be a master of ceremonies.” After saying this, both the wolf and the fox were very proud.

The rabbit picked up a broken sieve and put it on the male wolf’s head as a “sosha” hat; he also found a large cake, gnawed a hole in the middle, and put it around the fox’s neck as a gold necklace. There was a small fried dough stick hanging from his ear, which he said was the emcee’s earring.

After the wedding, the little rabbit announced: “Let’s have a drink!” It opened the wine jar and invited the bride and groom to drink. The wolf and the fox had never drunk anything so good. They rushed to put their heads into the wine jar and drank as hard as they could. When the jar of wine was finished, both the wolf and the fox were so drunk that they staggered around. As for the little rabbit, in order to show courtesy, he only wet his beard with wine.

After drinking enough, the little rabbit shouted again: “Let’s sing!” After saying that, he started singing first. The fox was so drunk that he screamed strangely. As for the old wolf, he was jumping up and down in the warehouse, howling wildly, and emitting bursts of stench from his buttocks, making everything messy.

People who were attending the wedding didn’t know who was making a fuss in the warehouse. They ran over and saw that it was the wolf and the fox. Some of them held wooden sticks, some held long knives, and surrounded the warehouse. Seeing that the situation was not good, the little rabbit jumped out of the window and ran away. The wolf and the fox also jumped on the windowsill, but the wolf had a big sieve on his head and the fox had a big pancake on his neck. He couldn’t get out and was beaten to death.
