Yasaka shrine is famous for Gion Festival which is one of the Japan’s top three festival. Local people call it as “Gion-san”. It was established in Heian period to get rid of epidemic diseases at that time. This shrine is more commonly known as “Gion Shrine” is located between Gion area and Higashiyama area of Kyoto city. It is another old shrine that is very famous in Kyoto. Since this shrine was built about 1,350 years ago, the buildings have a traditional Japanese architectural style. Especially the area around the building will be decorated with hundreds of lamps hanging clearly. Even in the evening until the evening, the lanterns will be opened, making it especially beautiful. These lanterns are not from anywhere else, they come from various stores in Kyoto that have donated a lot. Considered as another collaboration of the people of the city that has it.

Not only that Yasaka Shrine is famous for hosting the Gion Matsuri Festival every July. It is said that it is one of the top rank of the big festivals in Japan. In addition, during the month of April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, it is another place that is popular with tourists.
