Li Laotan passed through Hangu Pass on his westward journey. One day, Yin Xi, the commander of Guan, invited him to his home as a guest.

Hi has two children under three years old. One is called the boss and the other is called the second child. The second child looks smart, but the eldest child looks not only not smart, but also has an honest face.

Xi held a gold ingot in his hand, and while fiddling with it, he asked Lao Dan: “Sir, look, of these two children, which one will I be blessed with in the future?”

Lao Dan didn’t answer for a while. When a guest sitting next to him saw that Lao Dan was silent, he interrupted and said, “Of course, I can enjoy the blessing of the second child. Look at this second child, he is very smart and will have great abilities in the future.”

Lao Dan took the ingot from Xi’s hand, held the ingot in one hand and said to the boss: “Good boy, come on, you slap your father, and I will give you the ingot. If you hit me, I will give it to you. If you don’t, I will give it to you.” I won’t give it.”

No matter what you say, the boss always has his big eyes open and won’t hit or pick up the ingot.

Lao Dan handed the ingot to the second child again: “Good boy, come on, you slap your father, and I will give you the ingot. Hit! I will give it to you if you slap it, and I won’t give it to you if you don’t.”

The second child stared happily, stretched out his little hand, slapped his father on the mouth, and Lao Dan handed the ingot to the second child. The second child proudly took the ingot and walked away.

He said happily: “This child still has a solution. Once he has a solution, I will only be able to enjoy his blessings.”

Lao Dan said: “Brother Xi, let me tell you, it is the boss who will make you happy in the future, not the second child.”

He smiled and said, “Sir, how can you tell?”

Lao Dan said: “Because the boss values righteousness over profit and has true feelings; the second brother forgets justice when he sees profit and has no true feelings.”

The guest sitting next to him smiled and said, “Can you conclude that?”

Lao Dan said that people are changing. If China continues to develop like this without special changes, it will be like this. After the incident, Xi didn’t care. Decades later, he retired and returned home and was bedridden.

At this time, his eldest son became a poor man, and his second son was doing business abroad and was very rich. The boss stayed at his father’s bedside all day long. The family’s supplies were sold out because of my father’s medical treatment, so I had to rely on begging to support the elderly.

The second brother heard that his father was ill and ignored him. The eldest brother sent a message to the younger brother who was doing business outside, saying that his father was about to die and asked him to come back and see his father. The answer he got was:

“It’s more important for me to make money in my business than to come back.” If I make a lot less money just by looking at him, who will compensate me? If he wants to die, I will have no time to go back and pay attention to him.”
