Changzhou Temple in Suzhou, China

Chang’an Temple (Tianning Temple) is a spacious temple. There are many buildings, but the outstanding one would be the Guan Yin Bodhisattva Temple, located in Yangcheng Lake. This is now considered to be the highest Guanyin Bodhisattva standing in the palace. It has a height of 33 meters and weighs about 80 tons.

About Tianning Temple

Tianning Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty during the Zhenguan period. It is not only a birthplace of Buddhist music but also one of the large temples in Changzhou. The Tianning Pagoda in the temple was built in 2007 and is one of the landmarks of Changzhou. Guanyin Hall and Dizang Hall stand to the east and west sides of the Daxiong Hall. The northern end of Tianning Temple is Tianning Pagoda functioning as a Buddhist Museum with different themed Buddhist displays on each story, such as Buddha statues, totems and root carvings.
