Today, I’m going to visit Uji city and Kyoto city. This is my second day of trips. After I finish breakfast then go to subway and buy ticket to Yodoyashi Station. This time I use Keihan Line for visit Uji city and Kyoto. When you stay in Osaka and Keihan Railway will start at Yodoyabashi Station.

I choose 1 day pass from Osaka to Kyoto. One day pass is cost 800 yen but if you want to visit more. You can choose 2 day pass at 1,200 yen.

My route is Uji city. From Yodoyabashi station get off at Chushojimato station then transfer from Chushojima station to Uji Line and get off at Uji station. This is the last stop on Uji line. This railway take about 56 minutes.

After get off at Uji station. I’m plan to visit three places in Uji city. They’re Uji-bashi Bridge, Byodoin Omotesando Road and Byodoin Temple. I use google map to get directions. On the map tell that all of three place not far.

Take a walk from Uji Station on Keihan Main Line to Uji River and you will see the bridge. This bridge call “Uji-bashi”. At this bridge, you can see view around then walk from the bridge and cross to other side. This side you can visit Byodoin Omotesando Road and Byodoin Temple.

From Uji station to Byodoin Omotesando Road is about 500 meters. At this road, they have many shops, cafes and restaurant from both side. Green tea from Uji is very famous. This road you can buy many more of green tea such as ice creams, matcha (green tea), bread, ramen, snacks and etc. Most of them are made of green tea or favors. You will enjoy it.

From Byodoin Omotesando Road to Byodoin Temple about 250 meters walk.

To visit Byodoin Temple inside will cost about 600 yen for adult and children is half price. They have two place that you may pay for visit or only ticket from first entire.

Byodoin temple or Pure Land Buddhist temple that was founded in year 1052 at Uji city. This city is southeast of Kyoto. The Byodoin temple is World Heritage Site record. The Phoenix Hall of Byodoin temple is feature on the reverse of the Japanese 10 yen coin and the phoenix statue in the Hall be appear on the reverse of the current Japanese 10,000 yen note.

After visit all of three places in Uji then walk back to Uji station and take the railway to Kyoto.

From Uji station make a transfer to Chushojima station and take off at Fushimi-inari station.

At Fushimi-inari, you can visit Fushimi Inari Shrine. From the station take about 400 meters walk. Around the side road have ice cream shop, snack, foods and souvenirs for shop.

Fushimi Inari Shrine or Fushimi Inari Taisha is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for thousands of vermilion torii gates which straddle network of trails behind the buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari which stands at 233 meters.

Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari for the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari’s messengers and many fox statues across the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari Shrine has ancient origins, predating the capital’s move to Kyoto in year 794.

After I visit Fushimi inari when time up then walk back to the station. From the station take platform that go to Kyoto. The last place that I will visit for today is Gion.

From Fushimi-inari station get off at Gion-Shijo station. At Gion-Shijo station, you can take a walk from both side of Kyoto. Around this area have both traditional culture and modern. You will see many people wear Kimono dress.

The streets are filled with quaint wooden buildings, a great variety of cafe and restaurants, teahouses, traditional food, and bars. Also, they have river that during day time many people come to visit and enjoy weather with view.

This is for today trip. After take a tour on Gion then I ride the railway back to Osaka. I use Keihan day pass back to Yodoyabashi station. See you on day 3.
