Many people use JR Pass to visit Wakayama but today I use Kansai Thur Pass that I brought for 3 day to visit Wakayama. From Umeda Station ride subway to Namba Station and take Namba Nankai Line to Wakayamashi station. Take about 1 hours 20-30 minutes.
This trip I plan to visit Wakayama Marina City and some place in Wakayama City. So after I arrive at Wakayamashi Station and take a walk to bus station then reach to Wakayama Marina City. Its take about 36 mins to Marina city. From Nankai Wakayamashi STA. (Bus station) and get off at Wakayamakan Mae then walk about 2-3 mins to the city.
At Wakayama Marina City that you can walk around and visit interesting place in marina area such as Kuroshio Fish Market that have fresh foods and seafood that you must try on Tuna and Salmon, Fruit Village that have many choice to buy in fruits and vegetables, and Porto Europa is Amusement Park in the city and this place is part of the Wakayama Marina City theme.
From Wakayama Marina City and walk back to bus station and reach to Wakayama Castle. You can take a bus from Wakayamakan Mae station at bus number 紀三井寺線 (40,42,43,44) then get off at Koen Mae station about 27 stop. After arrive at Koen Mae bus stop then talk a walk to the castle about 10 mins. This is long time from Wakayama Marina City get to the Wakayama castle. Its take about 55 mins. to one hour.
Wakayama Castle located at Ichibancho, Wakayama-shi, Wakayama. The castle built in 1585 according to the order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In the Edo period, this was used as the important command base of the Tokugawa family. After being destroyed during World War 2 and castle was rebuilt in 1958 so at the main building of the castle has 3 floors. The area around the castle is the most popular of cherry blossoms in the city. There are about 600 cherry trees in the castle. The museum exhibits is the original treasures and remains of the old castle.
Not only Wakayama Castle can be see in here. They also have Momijidani Teien garden, other garden, a few zoo and museum around.
After take a look at the castle and garden around. I will get back to Umeda station where I stay for the trip. From bus stop to Umeda station take about 1 hour and 50 mins. So I spend my time on transportation about 5 hours to 6 hour. I think this might be enough for you to visit in one day but will try if this plan can be finish in one day but if not I choose to visit Wakayama Castle first because it’s the central city of Wakayama and you can see the city view with the most history in this area.
