Why don’t Indians clean up the pollution of the Ganges

India is a magical country with a variety of strange and thought-provoking cultures under the splendid fame of the ancient country. The Ganges River in India is called the holy river, but in fact they throw everything into it, and the dead will be buried in the water. The key is that they still love to drink the water here.
India is a strange country, the second most populous country in the world, but the clutter of the capital is nothing to praise. To say that India is one of the most influential countries in the world. However, there are still some people in India who can’t even get enough food and clothing, and can’t even drink a sip of clean water.
But in the hearts of Hindus, there are three long-cherished wishes in life: to worship Shiva in the holy city, to take a holy bath in the Ganges, drink holy water, and be buried in the Ganges after death.
Varanasi, one of the most famous holy places in India, has a splendid history and civilization of more than 6,000 years. But if you have checked the relevant India Raiders, this city is the most demonized city.
The Ganges River, which flows through here, is the most polluted area. But among Hindus seriously, this is the closest place to the gods and is known as the entrance to heaven. That’s why they think that they will be buried here after death and can reach heaven. So here, you can see corpses floating on the river.
In fact, as early as 2007, the Ganges was rated as one of the five most polluted rivers in the world, but the Hindus who have always regarded the Ganges as a holy river do not care. They still go about their daily lives in the Ganges, and it is amazing that the local people rarely get sick.
It is because of this that Hindus have always believed that the Ganges water can wash away all filth. Every 12 years, a grand religious festival is held here, during which millions of Hindus bathe in the Ganges to transcend their souls. Some believers sank their bodies into the water in order to be completely cleansed.
Although the Indians have never disliked their “holy river”, it is undeniable that the Ganges River is indeed polluted at present, and the river water is not suitable for washing and bathing. This is not good for the health of the Indians.
Such a river, which is of great significance in Indian life and belief, is now so polluted, why has India never wanted to remediate it?
First of all, wanting to govern does not mean being able to govern. India’s economy has developed rapidly in recent years, but a large part of its economic contribution comes from polluting companies around the Ganges. The current pollution of the Ganges has a lot to do with these companies. This is something that many people know.
But for India at this stage, economic development is the first priority. If these enterprises are managed, it will hinder the domestic economic development of India, so even if the Indian government wants to govern, the reality does not allow them to govern.
Secondly, there are other problems in India that are more urgent than the pollution of the Ganges. India is a country with a large population and a country with a very large gap between the rich and the poor. Because of the caste system and other reasons, a large number of Indians at the bottom do not have the opportunity to receive education, and they live in poverty for a long time, and even food is a problem. Compared with the governance of the Ganges, it is more urgent to solve the subsistence problem of the people at the bottom and to strengthen cultural education at the same time.
Furthermore, habits are hard to change, and Hindus do not find the Ganges unclean. For thousands of years, Hindus have been accustomed to bathing in the Ganges to wash away their sins. In their eyes, the Ganges is the holiest river in the world, and its water is also the holiest. Many believers even drink the Ganges water directly.
Although they saw that the Ganges River was polluted, they always believed that the Ganges River was the cleanest. It is these Hindu believers who stand up against it.
In addition, at this stage, Indians have not developed the awareness of protecting the environment, which can be seen from their usual toilet habits. Under this circumstance, the governance of the Ganges is very difficult, and even if it is effective, it will soon be destroyed again by the Indians with weak environmental awareness.
Therefore, for the Indian government, it is a thankless task to manage the Ganges at this stage, and of course no one will do it.
As a river that has nurtured people on both sides of India for thousands of years, today’s Ganges River has become a sewage outlet for many Indian polluting companies. It must be said that it is a kind of sadness. For tourists, if you want to see the Ganges with clean water, you may have to go to the upper reaches of the Ganges to have hope.
