Founded in 1976 as a private medical school, St. George’s University, Grenada (SGU) has evolved into a leading center of international education, drawing students and faculty from over 140 countries to the Caribbean island of Grenada in the West Indies.
The university’s alumni include physicians, veterinarians, scientists, and public health professionals, as well as a number of business professionals.
The university offers medical and veterinary medicine at the Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, and dual graduate degrees in sciences, public health and business. SGU, in partnership with its partner Northumbria University, has a UK campus that offers international students the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and complete up to 50% of their studies in the UK.
As fourth and fifth-year medical students commencing their studies at Northumbria University, they complete a year of integrated basic sciences at the technologically advanced campus in Grenada. The final two years of study combine traditional academic preparation with clinical experience.
SGU offers clinical training in the United States and the United Kingdom through a network of over 70 affiliated hospitals and clinics.
