Synopsis: A Soldier’s Story
The villager Gousheng married a wife for money and served as a soldier for the fool Wang Mao to make money. After the love rival Yang San learned of Gousheng’s purpose, he tricked Gousheng into joining the New Fourth Army without a conscription fee.
Gou Sheng, who has gone through many battles, gradually realized that the New Fourth Army was different from other troops. The Japanese army brutally killed Gou Sheng’s fiancée Xing’er and Wang Mao. Gou Sheng deeply understood the cruelty of the Japanese army and the cruelty of war. Myolie’s death also aroused Yang San’s hatred of the Japanese.
Gou Sheng, Yang San, and Wang Daju (Xing’er’s parents), together with other people who had been persecuted by the Japanese, organized to dismantle the hypocritical conspiracy of the Japanese army and launched an anti-Japanese movement on the night of New Year’s Eve.
In order to avenge his sons and daughters, Iron Rooster King donated all his savings to the anti-Japanese team led by Gou Sheng and Yang San, and he and the villagers transformed the homemade wine into bombs and set fire to the Japanese barracks. The anti-Japanese action was extremely tragic. Gou Sheng experienced the baptism of war and deeply realized that there is no family without a country. He changed from a farmer to a real soldier of the New Fourth Army
