Motto of Buddha

Motto of Buddha
1. Tranquility
1. Tranquility comes from the heart, do not seek it from the outside!
2. Let go of the troubles of the past, don’t worry about the future, don’t cling to the present, and your heart will be at peace.
3. Not to be jealous, not to be greedy, not to have selfish desires, and to hold that tranquility in the heart under all circumstances, this is nobleness!
4. Don’t overestimate what you get, and don’t be jealous or envious of others, otherwise you won’t get a peaceful mind.
5. When a person tastes the delicacy of loneliness and tranquility, he will not have fear and criminal behavior.
2. Selfish desires
6. The root of suffering is selfish desire, whether seeking happiness, revenge, or simply longing for a long life, will lead to suffering.
7. Desires cause pain, primarily because desires can never be fully satisfied.
8. Sorrow arises from lust, fear arises from lust, and those who uproot lust have neither sorrow nor fear.
3. bondage
9. To hold on to one thing (or a certain opinion) while despising others is despicable, and the wise call it “bondage.”
10. He who has no desire and hatred has no bondage.
11. Greed is the fiercest fire, hatred is the worst attachment, confusion and wrong views are the most difficult net to escape, and love and desire are the most difficult river to cross.
12. One should abandon anger, uproot arrogance, and transcend all shackles. People who are not attached to mind and matter can get real peace of mind without being affected by external influences.
13. A wise man said: The shackles made of iron, wood and hemp rope are not the strongest shackles, but obsessed with jewelry, earrings, and wives are the strongest shackles.
14. All desires have only a little sweetness, but hide a lot of distress.
15. People who indulge in lust are as frightened as rabbits trapped in a cage, bound by bondage and attachment, and suffering from long-term pain.
16. Trapped by incorrect thoughts, those who have a strong desire for sensual pleasures, their desires will multiply and their bondage will become stronger.
4. Insight
17. Don’t judge things based on logic, inference, or the appearance of things.
18. Only when you know that something is really imperfect and wrong can you get rid of it. And only when you yourself know for sure that something is perfect and right can you accept it and practice it.
19. Take unreal things as real, take real things as unreal, stay in unreal thoughts, and never reach the real realm.
20. A wise man is not easily influenced by what others think.
21. Don’t be swayed by any reports, traditions, or rumors.
22. Don’t trust other people’s rumors, rumors, or ordinary books.
23. Don’t trust your own speculation, don’t believe it just because it agrees with you, and don’t trust authority casually.
24. It is inappropriate to judge things hastily. A wise man should be aware of both right and wrong.
5. Wish
25. May all sentient beings be happy, peaceful and satisfied!
26. Let the infinite love in our hearts spread all over the world—no matter which corner of the universe—without the slightest obstacle, resentment, and hostility.
27. May all beings be happy in their hearts. Whether we can see them or not, whether they are far away or nearby, born or not yet!
28. As long as one is awake, no matter walking, standing, sitting or lying down, one should maintain this compassionate mind.
29. May I be generous and willing to help others. May I be pure in body and mind, upright, simple and innocent, with good character and no evil thoughts. May I be unselfish, non-possessive, and unselfish, even at the expense of the ego. May I be wise enough to tell others the benefits of truth and knowledge.
30. May I work hard and be diligent. May I be tolerant, able to tolerate and forgive the mistakes of others, and may I keep the promises I made.
31. May I be resolute, courageous, persistent and persistent. May I be kind, kind, and compassionate. May I be humble, peaceful, serene, composed, and serene. May I walk the path of perfection and serve others perfectly.
32. May all creatures, animals and human beings, be free from any resentment, disease, and sorrow, and may they be happy to protect themselves.
6. Compassion
33. Let us treat all creatures with infinite love, just like a loving mother risking her life to protect her only child.
34. In this world, hatred can never be stopped by hatred, but hatred can only be stopped by kindness. This is an eternal truth.
35. Never deceive others, and never despise people anywhere. Where there is anger and malice, let us deal with them with kindness, so that they will not be harmed in the slightest.
36. Use kindness to influence resentment, and use kindness to influence evil. Use charity to convert miserliness, and truth to convert lies.
37. All animals are afraid of punishment, and all animals are afraid of death (all animals cherish life). Put yourself in someone else’s shoes and compare yourself to others. One should not kill animals or encourage others to kill animals.
7., worry
38. When a person feels dissatisfied and pursues deliberately, he becomes a slave to love and thirst.
39. People who look for other people’s faults and are easily angry are more and more distressed. It is getting farther and farther away from the realm of no worries.
40. A smart person neither expects the future nor regrets the past.
41. Winners bring resentment, losers live in distress. A peaceful person abandons victory and defeat, so he is safe and happy.
42. Always think about the source of distress, be good at restraining one’s senses, eat moderately, and be full of confidence and energy, so that you will not be defeated by evil spirits, just like a mountain rock that will not be shaken by the wind.
43. It usually happens as follows: When a person has been treated by a bad doctor, he doesn’t even trust the good doctor.
44. Through faith, good virtue, hard work, meditation, and observation and experience of the truth, understanding and practice go hand in hand, and often do correct thinking, you can get rid of major afflictions.
8. Obstacles
45. Every crime does more harm to the perpetrator than to the victim.
46. Don’t underestimate the little evil, thinking that I won’t get retribution. The water bottle is filled with small water droplets. Stupid people keep doing small bad things, and as time goes by, their whole beings are full of evil.
47. There are five obstacles to clear perception: greed, hatred, sleep and drowsiness, restlessness and worry, and doubt.
48. When sinful deeds are immature (not yet fruitful), stupid people regard sinful deeds as sweet. But when his behavior matures, he has sorrow.
49. Those who have no faith, are dishonest, love to lie, and do not consider the afterlife will likely do various evil deeds.
50. Before the evil deeds are immature, the evildoers always think that they have done a perfect job, but when the evil deeds mature, the evildoers will taste bad consequences.
51. Killing, stealing, lying and sexual misconduct, wise people will never appreciate these four evil things.
52. Lying is the root of evil. It makes a person live in a bad state, and there is a bad smell in his mouth. The words he speaks are not liked by others, and they are despised by others.
53. All sentient beings yearn for happiness. Those who kill sentient beings with a rod for their own happiness will not have peace in the future.
54. Unchaste is the dirt of a woman, and miserliness is the dirt of charity. All bad words, deeds and thoughts become dirt in this life and in the hereafter.
55. Greed, hatred and ignorance are the three major dirt in the mind. Killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct are the three major dirts on the body. Sowing discord (telling right and wrong), vulgar language, lying, and rhetoric are the four major dirts of language.
56. When a person does evil, his mind becomes dirty. When a person does not do evil, his heart is pure. Cleanliness and dirt are entirely up to you, and no one else can help you.
9. sorrow
57. People who are obsessed with themselves will have their minds disturbed. People who only think about themselves everywhere will bring sorrow to themselves.
58. A person who has no attachment to anything has no suffering. So I say that in this state there is no sorrow, no passion, no disappointment.
59. If you love one hundred things, you will have one hundred afflictions. If you crave ninety, ten, five, or two things, you will have ninety, ten, five, or two afflictions.
60. The world is constantly changing, but it is not always the same.
61. Anything that is born must die.
62. Birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow and disappointment, being with people you don’t like, and insatiable desires, these attributes of existence are suffering!
63. Aging and death drive away the life of all living beings, just as a shepherd drives his cattle to the pasture with a stick in his hand.
64. Change and impermanence are the characteristics of life.
65. Impermanence is a (very subtle) suffering.
Annotation: Anything that is not eternal will eventually undergo metamorphosis, change, and disappearance. So those with keen senses can perceive its imperfection.
66. Even when a person has happiness, this happiness still cannot last forever.
67. “Everything that is conditional is impermanent.” When a person observes this truth with wisdom, he begins to dislike all kinds of suffering. This is the way to attain purity.
68. If you can truly understand the truth of suffering, you will also be able to know the source of suffering, the state without suffering, and the way to eliminate suffering.
10. Treat people
69. Treat people with sincerity and manners, as long as every day is full of joy, troubles will disappear without a trace.
70. Emotion is produced by fate in the past and love and affection in this life, just like a lotus flower is conceived from two things, water and soil.
71. In order to pursue happiness, but build happiness on the suffering of others, you will be troubled by resentment, and cannot get rid of resentment.
72. Treat everyone equally, regardless of rich or poor.
73. Visiting patients should make them hopeful and happy.
74. People love those who are loyal to the truth, have a good attitude, keep their word, and are responsible for their positions.
75. A husband should treat his wife in the following five ways: First, praise each other’s merits. Second, never underestimate each other. Third, be faithful to her. Fourth, delegate the authority to handle housework. Fifth, often give her exquisite clothing.
76. A wife should treat her husband in the following five ways: First, handle the housework in an orderly manner. Second, help the relatives of the husband. Third, be faithful to your husband. Fourth, wisely manage and save the husband’s wages. Fifth, industrious but not lazy.
77. There are four principles in serving the community: generosity of alms; thoughtful speech; mutual cooperation; behavior in season and courtesy. These four principles are like the axle of a car, turning the wheels.
78. People who serve the society are easy to get along with others, willing to help others and understand the needs of others, and teach others generously and patiently. Such a kind person will definitely be rewarded in the future.
79. You must be patient, loving, and eager to serve.
11. state of mind
80. When a person speaks and acts with good motives, happiness follows him like a shadow.
81. All realms are guided by the heart. The heart is the master, and all realms are created by the heart. If a man behaves with a dirty mind, misery follows him immediately, just as a wheel follows the hooves of a draft ox.
82. In contact with worldly things, the heart is not tempted, there is no sorrow, no blemish, and the mind is stable. What a blessing it is!
83. Smart people often clean up the dirt in their hearts, just like craftsmen clean up impurities in silver mines.
84. Prevent the anger of the mind, control the mind, abandon evil thoughts, and sincerely perform the right way.
85. Disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha: You must wake up well, no matter day or night, always think of the perfect saint——Buddha.
12. Do good deeds
86. Do good deeds in time, lest bad thoughts come up in your heart again. Those who do good and procrastinate are not easy to insulate themselves from evil.
87. It is inevitable to die in life, so we should do more good deeds during our lifetime, just like making many wreaths from a bunch of flowers.
88. Don’t underestimate Xiaoshan, thinking that I will not suffer retribution. Small drops of water keep falling, and finally can fill the whole bottle, so a wise person gradually accumulates small goodness, so that his whole body is full of merit.
89. Be tolerant among impatient people, gentle among violent people, and generous among greedy people.
90. Do not do any bad deeds, cultivate all good deeds, and purify your mind, this is the teaching of the Buddha.
13. Implementation
91. It is fruitless to say good words without practice. This is like a beautiful flower, which has only color but no fragrance.
92. Although there are not many recitations of holy scriptures, but follow the teachings, get rid of greed, hatred and ignorance, have correct wisdom, have no worries in your heart, and do not be greedy for this life and the next life, you are a practitioner who inspires your mind.
93. Teaching others should first lead by example. Only after you restrain yourself can you restrain others. It’s really hard to restrain yourself!
94. Do not speak harsh words, do not harm all sentient beings, practice the precepts according to the Buddha’s admonitions, eat moderately, live in a peaceful place, and concentrate on noble awareness. These are the teachings of the Buddha.
95. It is of no benefit to a stupid person to gain knowledge and fame, which not only damages his happiness, but also makes him self-willed.
96. It is better to hear one useful word than to recite a thousand words that are useless, which will bring people peace.
97. Flowers that are bright and beautiful but have no fragrance will not bring much happiness to the person you wear; neither will it be of much benefit to hear good words and not practice them.
14. skip
98. You should not find fault with others, and criticize what others have done and have not done. You should always reflect on your mistakes and consider what you have done and what you have not done.
99. A wise man reviews his own words and deeds every day.
100. Conquering millions of heroes on the battlefield is far worse than defeating oneself. He who conquers himself is the greatest conqueror.
101. Overcoming yourself is indeed more noble than overcoming others!
102. It is easy to discover the faults of others, but it is not easy to detect your own faults. Spreading the faults of others is as easy as discarding rice husks. But hiding one’s faults is as cunning as a gambler hides his dice.
103. Know your own weaknesses and strive to improve them.
104. If a person changes his past mistakes and starts to do good deeds, it is like the bright moon that is not covered by dark clouds and can illuminate the earth.
105. You should have the courage to admit your mistakes to others!
106. Confession includes repentance!
15. Words and deeds
107. Bad results are caused by one’s own behavior, just like iron rusted, it will be corroded by rust.
108. Behavior makes the difference between base and noble beings.
Annotation: The so-called “behavior” here includes three kinds of actions: thought, speech, and body movements.
109. Good behavior can help a person to be born into a better state in the future, and bring him closer to freedom and liberation.
110. Those who have good moral character and high knowledge, live according to the teachings revealed by the perfect saint, and understand the truth, and are conscientious and responsible, will always be loved by everyone.
111. Not only do I teach outward behavior, but I also pay more attention to inner thoughts and thoughts…I not only teach my disciples not to show bad actions in the body, nor to think or talk about bad, good and unhealthy things. …while I also teach my disciples to behave well, to think and talk about sane things.
112. When a person talks, he should avoid criticizing others with harsh words.
113. If your speech is measured, your speech is tactful, and your words are reasonable, then your speech will be beautiful.
114. Don’t speak ill of others behind their backs.
16. Learning
115. A person who does not study is like an old cow, although he has a lot of meat, he has no wisdom.
116. Be close to the wise, the wise, the learned, the loyal and zealous, the dutiful, the holy—always associate with these wise and virtuous.
117. Greed for sleep, love to chat, not interested in what you have learned, lazy in doing things, impatient and impatient… are the major factors that lead to degeneration.
118. If you don’t study hard in time, you will be lazy when you are young and strong, and you will live without goals and ideas. Lazy people will never find the way of wisdom.
17. Education
119. Before explaining, the teacher should study the psychological tendency of the students.
120. Education should match the ability of the educated and the appropriate timing!
121. One should use earnest and compassionate words.
122. A good teacher should speak to the point and avoid talking about irrelevant things.

18. Happy
124. One who does not indulge in idleness, does not cling to sensual pleasures, has enthusiasm, and meditates on the truth, attains great happiness.
125. Life can be happy only if there is no hatred in the crowd full of resentment.
126. There are two extremes that practitioners should not do. What are these two extremes? The pleasure of “sensuality” is low-level, vulgar, vulgar, and indecent, and it causes physical and mental damage; “self-torture” is painful and despicable, and it also causes physical and mental damage. However, the “middle way” discovered by the perfect saint avoids the above two extremes, and brings you keen insight and knowledge, leading you to peace, wisdom, enlightenment and eternal happiness.
127. Happy are those who maintain good character until old age, and happy are those whose faith is strong. Those who gain wisdom are happy, and those who do not do evil are also happy.
19. Happiness
128. Happiness lies in the realization of wishes, and in the existence of only noble wishes.
129. Trust yourself, there is no one else you can rely on besides yourself.

135. Honoring parents, caring for wives, and having a stable career are great happiness.

20. Wisdom
136. The understanding of divine and eternal things is properly called “wisdom”, while the understanding of common things is nothing but “knowledge”.

143. If someone speaks ill of you, you need not be malicious, resentful, contemptuous, or resentful of them.
144. If you hold resentment in your heart, it will not only hinder the development of your mind, but also prevent you from judging whether the statement is right or wrong.
145. At the same time, if others put a high hat on me and praise my teachings and monks too much, you should not be too complacent, because this will also damage your inner (mental) development. You should accept the facts and show them the reality of the situation.
146. The lotus flower is born in the waste and sludge abandoned by people, and still emits a pleasant fragrance, just like the Buddha’s disciples born in the crowd with strong love, but can emit the light of wisdom.

23. Health
153. Greed, hatred and ignorance are the three elements of disease.
154. There are two kinds of diseases, which two? Diseases of the body and diseases of the mind. Some people seem to be physically free from illness for a year, two years, or even a hundred years or more, but in this world, except for saints whose minds are clean, there are very few people whose minds are free from illness for a moment.
155. People who are emotionally unstable, cannot be trusted by others and do not treat their friends well will have a greatly reduced health condition.
156. A good man is not attached to anything. He only talks about noble things, not after love and enjoyment. Whether he encounters happiness or pain, the wise man is never too proud or sad.
157. A wise person, whether happy or painful, will not express his feelings excessively.
158. A wise man should clean up the dirt in his heart and give up the enjoyment of the senses so that there is no hindrance in his heart.

179. Those who are restless in heart, do not understand good teachings, and have wavering beliefs cannot achieve perfect wisdom.
180. A wise man is not shaken by praise and slander, just as a solid rock is not shaken by the wind.
28. Relief
181. Removing selfish desires can cure pain.
182. This is the way to achieve freedom and liberation—to help others without seeking fame and rewards, without thinking of harming others, and doing things with reason.

189. Stupid and ignorant people are free and unrestrained; but wise people keep working hard and regard diligence as the highest treasure.

191. You yourself should try hard to do good, because the perfect saint can only tell you the way to go.
192. Even if the view is so perfect and unburdened, if you cling to it, you do not understand. All teachings are like a raft for crossing a river, not for grasping.
