
Tsuyama Castle and Kakuzan Park used to be the castle of Tsuyama City in the north of Okayama but now the main castle building has been destroyed. Only the fortress remained around the moat of the castle and has been transformed into a large park. This place is famous for being as beautiful cherry blossom and viewing spot for take a picture. This park is one of Japan’s 100 cherry blossom viewing spots when time of the cherry blossom season which is around beginning of April. There will be a cherry blossom viewing event and is an extension for closing the garden with lighting on the cherry trees.
The original Tsuyama Castle was built in 1604 as a prototype of a modern castle designed primarily for use in warfare and also used as the residence of the shogun. The location is on a hill and surrounded by a moat in castle area. The castle was destroyed in 1873 and developed into a public park in 1900. It is well known as Kakuzan Park. In addition that Kakuzan Park, is famous place for cherry blossoms. There are many flowers that bloom in each season such as in May will see wisteria and azalea, in September will see lily and in November (Autumn) will see red leaves.
